Whatever happened to Estella Warren?

Her movie career fizzled and at one time, it looks like she was going to be a big star after the movies Driven, Planet of the Apes and after those movies (her first 2 of 3 roles), she made nothing but trash.

I think she was in and out of rehab for a while. The tolerance for women doing such stuff is much lower than for men. I mean in terms of their hireability. It's probably also why her face looks a bit older than her 39 years.

Sometimes i see some of these actors and actresses who start out great with good movies roles and then slowly, with each successive role, gets roles in shitty movies, I wonder:

did they do that on their own and if they did, they are dumb asses

or

did their agents recommended they took those roles in those shitty movies, and if they did and the actors/actresses took the agent's advice, they are dumb asses

or

did they needed money for whatever and most likely drugs, so they just took whatever role can give them a quick 5-6 digit paycheck so they can get a quick fix.

I think for women it's a bit more complex. Like Winona Ryder was shunned for like a decade for her shoplifting episode.

Sometimes I pull up the filmography resume of some of these actors and actresses and look at the junk they were in, I always ask:

what the fuck were they thinking?

Did they even read the script before accepting the role?

If they did, did it not occur to them that it's going to suck or flop or it's just a shitty low budget film?

The vast majority of film and tv actors, even quite well known ones, do not have choices of roles, they have to take what is offered to them or they just won't work. This is compounded by the difficulty of knowing whether a project will turn out well: often the draft of a script they get is good on paper, but the producers or directors make a mess of it, or, by contrast, a script can seem poor, but they hope good producers/directors/scriptdoctors will elevate it. Thirdly, and as William Goldman says, the majority of actors are not actually very intelligent - they get to a certain level frequently based on looks/ contacts, not brains.
