I know 5 of the choices are out for me, leaving 2 I know I should vote for because of their importance to musical history, and 3 I just plain prefer personally. Still thinking.

If Zeppelin doesn't get some more votes, this whole forum might go down like a led balloon.

Wheeeeee.
Haven't voted yet, and surprisingly I've narrowed it down to 3 already. At this point all I know is that they're going to be English. Group really isn't as strong as I would have thought -- some real heavyweights went down earlier. Luck of the draw, blah blah blah. Have enjoyed some of the discussions in this thread. I live and breathe Music, and can discuss it forever and a day ... nice to see some fellow freaks. Loved the back-and-forth about the "first" or earliest Rock music, that was good stuff. Only thing I would have added was that a very important name was forgotten: Howlin' Wolf. Its one thing to talk about the musical elements, rhythms, chord progressions, and so on ... but Rock Music has a Heart as well, and guys like HW were among the first ones to flippin' bring down the house!! Someone even mentioned Chicago Blues, e.g. Muddy Waters etc, but Mr. Chester Burnett certainly deserves to be in the conversation. IMHO. I know, I know -- some of you are like WTF. And that's fine. But there's a reason he shows up on many "Greatest Artists of All Time" lists. Quote:
When I read that, my first and immediate thought was The Who. No doubt about it. And they're still one of my 3 ... but I just can't see them winning this thing, and honestly, I don't want to waste my vote. The second I see ferkin' Queen climbing up, I will forget The Who and vote for one of my other 2 who have a better chance. And who both are so incredibly different and monumental bands, each in their own way. And with 100 voters needed ... maaaaaaan ... this could go on a while. We need to have a little fun. Here's some fun. One of my favorite old CAKE songs, from 1994. Group never got the attention it should have back in the 1990s, but those first 3 albums were just so damn cool. Definitely a member of the "love them or hate them" genre. RF
