Been into MMA for about 4-5 years, Anderson Silva is my fav fighter and no Lesner will never return to UFC. I just don't think he will be a guy happy to be a "gate-keeper"
Meaning that since he is not good enough to compete with the top guys, he would bef more of a guy who young up and coming fighters had to go through before consideration for a title shot. |

I got into MMA back in '99. Uncle brought a video round and I watched it (UFC 3). Saw Dan Severn (who at the time I only knew from WWF) I thought this was just wrestling where every match was in a cage. Took me a few months to relize it wasn't pro-wrestling.
My favourite fighters are some of the more popular guys - Love Jon Jones work I always said he was going to be a UFC champ. John Hathaway, Brad Pickett, Chan-Sung Jung, Jimy Hettes. Though my all time favourite MMA fighter is Kazushi Sakuraba.

Talking of Mir, I thought the dos Santos/Mir fight was brilliant! Junior once again showed how hard it is for fighters to take him down which enables him to force opponents into a striking match. His response to Joe Rogan's "How do you feel?" after the fight was priceless. I don't know how anyone can dislike the guy. What an intriguing champion and a good example for the sport. Regarding UFC on FX 4, I'm excited about the Hatsu Hioki/Ricardo Lamas slightly more than the main event. Hioki has said he doesn't exactly feel ready for a title fight and so should he win against Lamas, it'll be interesting to see how he does so and whether he feels ready to take on Jose Aldo. The Gray Maynard/Clay Guida match-up should be a good fight too; both will be up for turning the fight into a slug-fest until Maynard decides to take him down. |

I really, really cannot wait for Saturday night/early Sunday morning. I'm going with Chael Sonnen. I've backed him in every fight since his debut at UFC 55 against Renato Sobral. Like he has said he's got two national plaques on his wall that says he can take Anderson Silva down. I think though that Silva is going to come out straight away and try to finish this. He isn't going to allow a feeling-out process (just like Sonnen didn't allow in the first fight)
My predictions for UFC 148: Main Card Chael Sonnen def. Anderson Silva by Decision Forrest Griffin def. Tito Ortiz by TKO (Little Nog and Rashad Evans have shown that body shots will finish Ortiz) Patrick Côté def. Cung Le by TKO Demian Maia def. Dong Hyun Kim by Decision Chad Mendes def. Cody McKenzie by Decision Mike Easton def. Ivan Menjivar by Decision Preliminary Card on FX Khabib Nurmagomedov def. Gleison Tibau by TKO Fabrício Camões def. Melvin Guillard by Submission Constantinos Philippou def. Riki Fukuda by Decision John Alessio def. Shane Roller by Decision Preliminary Card on Facebook Yoislandy Izquierdo def. Rafaello Oliveira by TKO

I think the thing people forget about the first fight was that Silva may have hurt his ribs pre-fight, Sonnen was also pretty ill going into that fight. Sonnen showed he can rock Silva multiple times. If I'm Sonnen as soon as the ref lets them go at it, I run across that cage and (try to) grab Silva and push him up against the cage and try to drag/rag doll him around then start throwning those elbow and punches to the body, head and just like in the first fight throw them elbows to the legs while in guard. I am really looking forward to this card.

I watched it live at dickhead o'clock and though that Silva made it look so easy. Though just rewatching it now. Silva had no answer for the takedown in the 1st and if Sonnen would had stayed in wrestling mode he could have got it to the floor in the 2nd. Why he tried a spinning back fist I don't know.
Was a good night of fights in my opinion. I still think you could do Silva/Sonnen III somewhere down the line (bit like the Ortiz/Shamrock trilogy, where Ortiz won all three fights)

The knee was to the chest
Gutted that the Kim/Maia fight ended the way it did. Was really looking forward to seeing how it unfolded.
If you watch the replays from different angles, it clearly shows the knee landed on the chest. Don't listen to Goldberg. |
