I would allow streaming media in the Explicit Material section, but only if hosted on an approved site, and only as a means of previewing the scene before downloading it from a conventional filehost.

ie: Scene would be uploaded to an approved host like Megaupload or Rapidshare (as it is now) together with tech info and screens, but in addition, the scene would also be there in a link to a tube site.

The quality on adult tube sites usually sucks, but at least you would be able to get a much better idea of what is being offered in a post than you would with just the screencaps.

On a different site they started a thread with basically the same title.
Then an admin posted a reply, here's what he said.

If I were admin for a day. I would move a dupe database across to another domain, setup vbulletin 4 on it, start playing with the css of the current theme to update it to vbulletin 4/find an improved theme that works with vbulletin 4, I'd then take a list of the current hacks we have installed, find the vbulletin 4 versions of said hacks, and begin installing them.

Whilst I was doing that I'd be stuck on to the phone to PayPal all damned day, and be simultaneously tying up the loose ends on the necessary credit card processing ready for us to use that as an alternative to PayPal donations. I would then submit the site for approval at our credit card processing company and patiently wait (luckily they are friends of mine ).

Once I had sorted out that, I'd drop a message to our programmer and see how well he interpreted the design doc I laid out for the new search, and give him access to the vbulletin 4 install to begin work there.

I would then jump in here and say a friendly hello to everyone! Hey!

All I can say is that the actual responsibilities of an admin are far different than what most members believe. There's more to running a forum than just playing around with the rules. You also can't please all of the people all of the time. So even if we had a suggestions thread for changes, it wouldn't work because every time you please one person you piss off another. So quit your whining, the staff here is doing a great job considering they do it for free.

Restrict file hosts to a small few RS DF SM etc as i cant afford to have premium accounts on every host (very annoying)

30second between searches (really annoying if you make a small typo or something) im sure there is a good reason for this feature though, i just don't know it.

I agree with most of what people said, especially removing SM from prefered host for PATM and maybe replace it by HF.
RS, MU, MF, DF, HF as prefered host. The rule that says "at least 1 link among prefered hosts" is a garanty to be able to download every video of PS in good conditions. That's a good rule.

Except this rule: "No more than 2 prefered host"? WTF? I never understood why? Because 3 links among prefered hosts would be to good? So we prefer a third link hosted by a crappy host? Once 1 good link is provided the poster should be authorised to put whatever he wants, it doesn't change anything. That's why I like the "prefered host list" thing, but not an "authorised host list".

Anyway, I'm glad to be a member of PS, I love the atmosphere here There are always thing we want to change, we cannot agree on everything.

Ah yes I have 6 years of being an Admin and a Owner. Having sites from all sizes from small, medium and large and all of them are ruled differently. The story above in Donski post is from an Owner which is different then just being an Admin, making rules is simple, paying the server sucks and being both along with being a poster is rare.

To address the search issue.

Searches take an enormous amount of bandwidth. Consider the variables involved in an search:

--keywords (any post could have dozens)
--author (PS has, in round numbers, hundreds of thousands)
--dates
--# of total posts (PS has millions)
--forum (PS has several dozen)

Never mind if you add one of the Boolean operators. By my rough estimate, such a search parses over 250,000,000 pieces of data. If you think I'm lying, head on over to Ph*n.org, where their answer to their own server load issues is to disable the search function entirely, even for their own registered users. At least our approach still gives the functionality to our members. Or you can call up the guys from Barfl@and, who shut down their own forum because they were overloaded and didn't have the money to upgrade, so they just shut things down.

I did not attack anyone. I just wrote down the honest thoughts of mine without naming anybody.
If I were an admin (If I had the power), indeed I would do what I said. Not because of personal things, because I get on well with almost anyone, but because I am in contact with many many planetsuzans, and I hear stories about certain members (mods...). These things always incense me and make me angry and sometimes all I can answer is something like "WTF? Really?? Unbeliveable" or "Must have a serious problem in his/her life. I am sorry for that."

We are neither blind nor idiots...
