Large Files in PATM HD Section

This is to be fair a difficult 'balancing' act for us, we believe that files should be available for free download, but as Simioni has already pointed out, the more 'work' involved in uploading, the less likely members are to do it with certain content.

Post MajorFilehost offer between 100-200KB/s with PS referral. Which is enough to pretty much download any file within ~8hours

What I personally do is just start downloads I want before i go to sleep. Even 3-4GB files will be fully downloaded in the 8hours I'm sleeping. It's more convenient for me than having to start 3-4 different files you'll find with a splitted .RAR download. I've to admit the internet connection I'm using is very stable though.

Personally I think thats a fine way of going at it!..
And if that works for you more or less all the time then that somehow proves to me that its not really the filehost thats the problem when users have broken downloads.

In general I just think its really really hard to make up new rules to help free users simply because the conditions on filehosts for free users are not really improving over time.

My internet connection is very stable also and I still go to the greatest lengths not to download any (single link) file larger than about 2.2 gigs.

So with a stable internet connection why won't I try for these 4 gig single link files? Power disruptions. I live in an old neighborhood and we regularly have very brief power disruptions. Though they only last seconds it is enough to reset everything, including my modem! Download lost.

There are so many things that can go wrong over a 6 - 8 hour (and that's for k2s or fileboom) time period. I won't download a single link file from Filejoker or rapidgator or any of the others greater than 1 gig. Too many variables. And they are too slow.

And lastly (I have had this problem quite a few times) let's say you are downloading a 4 gig file while you are searching for other vids. You click on a PixRoute (other's as well) thumbnail without taking precautions and get a vicious Hi-jack ad. Your computer fan starts going full bore because the hi-jack ad is jamming up your memory. You are completely locked out of your computer. You know your download only has one hour left of the download (been downloading for 5 hours) What do you do? Wait an hour, locked out of your computer, and then shut down your computer and hope that you got the file? Or sometimes my computer shuts down on its own because of memory overload from the hijack ad.

There are a lot with problems downloading with single link large files; for some it is this and for others it is that. I don't need the headache. I go to great lengths to avoid them. Thankfully 720 is usually fine with me but sometimes, often, the 720 links are dead. Many times I will just walk away from a single link file.

I would really like multiple links no larger than 1 gig. I won't try anything from Filejoker or Rapidgator, and many others, larger than 1 gig. Unless it is k2s, fboom, or Depositfiles, 1 gig is pretty much my "risk" limit.

It seems some of the downloaders here don't consider that we have to download the files first before we upload them to one of the required file host. The only files I will split are 4 GB's and above and 99 percent of these are VR vids. I see no reason for any change to the current rules.

You don't seem to have understood my first post correctly. I'm not asking for the rules to be changed to enforce the splitting of big files. I'm asking if the rules could be changed to allow another uploader to post split files using the same filehost that has already been posted in PATM (possibly by yourself) as a single link for a 3GB, 4GB or even bigger file.

That's exactly how I prefer files to be split so even though I don't download VR vids, thanks for doing it that way.

Thanks to Gwynd, DoctorNo and others for their suggestions. I find many of the scenes I'd like to D/L posted with split files in THIS THREAD by Torgo Pizza so I don't always have to look elsewhere for them, away from the fuzzy warmth and safety of PlanetSuzy.

I posed my question to see if there were many other users like Zytin and myself who find the risk of failure with 8 hour and longer downloads to be a bit too much and also to hopefully get the management's reaction.

So that you could have someone post the same 720 or 1080 etc file with same filehost same video twice instead of once as the rule now stands; one with one link, someone else if they choose could post with multiple links. That's how I understood what you asked for the change to be?

And a positive of that would also be, I would bet, that the file with multiple links would be active a lot longer than the file with one big link.

Ah alright. I dont think I caught that at first sorry.

I dont post 0-day or real new stuff but that would de-motivate me as an uploader for sure + give more moderator work.

I think the filehosts free user file size is the one to follow or enforce a PATM wide max file size rule.

Just my 2 cents in the short version

Would you care to say why it would de-motivate you? And I don't believe Moderators trawl through every PATM thread every day but react to member's reports of any infringements. I honestly don't see this adding much at all to their workload but Gwynd and/or DoctorNo may tell me different.

Fair enough but I notice that you split some large files but not others.

You post a single link for a 2.95GB file in THIS POST but split a 2.16GB file into 3 parts in THIS POST

You've used different filehosts but both have a 5120MB limit according to the Allowed File and Image Host rules. I'm just curious and not trying to give you the 3rd degree or anything lke that.

Your 2 cents worth as an uploader is valued more than most and I appreciate you taking the time to give it.

I am not taking it as a third or anything and I always try to give the uploaders view, even if I know its not always PRO free user

If I upload 0-day I would not be motivated to get i.e FJ links posted real fast and maybe fboom too ... if somebody 1-2 minutes later can just post the same filehost just with split files.

Its purely about "prestige" and ofcourse money ....
The same goes for me, I personally try to find different stuff to post and believe it or not I spend shit load of time finding stuff and if somebody can just grab my 1 link file split it and (re)-post it with same host thats not motivating for me atleast to spend time finding this stuff.

I think the 0-day uploaders will prepare 1 link posts + split file posts and post whatever is not posted that means you get the same scene 2 times for every required host quite fast, assuming the file size is over the split limit set by the rules if implemented.

As I understand the mods PATM work here they check every new post for duplicate filehosts + check if it follows all other rules like runtime,correct section etc etc and thats why I believe they will get more work and more posts to handle, maybe even more reports.
But yes, DoctorNo & Gwynd can definately clarify that part.

I think the PATM sections are already the most time consuming sections to moderate, why have 15 mods in PATM and only 9 in GP when GP has aprox. 70% more posts.

That is simply experimental by me + If I forget to correct the rar size when raring I dont re-rar or cancel the process. (I often rar + upload over night so wont see the error until next day mostly)

I have struggled for a while finding out what would work the best for me as an uploader (yes money/earnings wise) if I should split files or upload 1 link.

That is why my winrar is now set to only split files that are 5000mb+.

Anyway, I wish other uploaders would throw in their 2 cents also as its going to affect them.
It could be just me being defensive on this subject
