Earlier tonight, Wrestlezone posted an exclusive report on details regarding WWE star Edge's sudden retirement.
After speaking with several different sources, I can now confirm that Edge did seek medical advice and at least one doctor was in Pittsburgh, as WWE.com reports. As Edge mentioned in his speech on RAW, his neck is what is in question. The severity is such that any match could have been his last and caused severe permanent damage. I am also finding out that Edge's health questions came into play when the WrestleMania script was being written. A Christian heel turn was heavily talked about and considered going into WrestleMania, but with the WWE aware of Edge's health, they went against turning a face such as Christian heel on Smackdown. Due to these factors, Christian remained a face at WrestleMania. This allowed Edge to walk away with the title which has led to him getting to leave "on top" and having an appropriate send off.

Sad to see Edge leave basically the same way Stone Cold had to leave, al be it a different injury. Hopefully he'll stay on and be involved in some way.
Looks like the plans for the upcoming PPV will have to change. Elimination Chamber perhaps, Fatal Four Way? |

I hate story angles (like the one Cena had) were they just get in front of the audience to say their fake goodbyes. In my opinion this is a moment reserved for only a real honest goodbye and not some angle work.
Yeah it was a sad moment but at least he got to say goodbye have the crowd cheering him and not get carried out on a stretcher. |

Not sure how or if this site has spoiler tags, so don't read if you don't wish to know....
Smackdown Tapings have been released..... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . they had a 20 man battle royal won by Christian, so he'll now face Del Rio in a Ladder Match for the vacant title. |

It's really a shame that Edge is done, but from what I hear he'll be sticking with the company much in the same vein that Shawn Michaels is.

I'm glad to see that Christian was given the chance to face Del Rio for the vacated World Title. He deserves a chance, even though it's a very slim chance at the title.

I wouldn`t say he`s got a slim chance. I think they go in this with even odds. Christian riding on the tail of Edge leaving and on the other hand with Miz there already is a heel champ so now it all depends on Vince decision who could put on a good story. Maybe its better to have Del Rio chasing instead of holding the title. But no matter who will take the win they sure can put up a good fight and keep the storyline going.

As much as I love my boy Christian..I've been a big fan of his since The Brood days...he's not going to win the World Title at Extreme Rules. The company is so up on Del Rio that there is no chance that Christian will win. Vince and others have said in the past that they don't see Christian as Heavyweight Champion material in the past, even though I personally disagree. I would love to see Christian win the World Heavyweight Title because then he would have done something that has never been done. Win the TNA NWA Heavyweight title as well as one of WWE's Heavyweight titles...but since Del Rio was considered to win the title at both Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania, Extreme Rules WON'T be Christian's day.
