I know it was a big deal for them. To be fair, I don't see much hope of them getting to WWE on the regular roster just due to size alone (all of them are 5'9 or under and one only weighs like 150) but it happened to James Ellsworth so you never know! Quote:

And the worst match of 2016 goes to Lesnar vs Goldberg II. That match made Cole vs Lawler from WrestleMania XXVII look good.

How the fuck does a match I didn't want to see and had zero expectations for manage to be even stupider than I could possibly imagine?

The shock factor was a bit much but I didn't mind that at all.
These are usually my favorite kind of matches. Not the typical spot monkey match. I don't think anyone predicted a squash win though

WWE had the perfect opportunity to use Lesnar to make someone like Shinsuke Nakamura or Samoa Joe the biggest name in the company. Instead, an old guy got a pity win and nothing comes as a result. Undertaker now looks like a joke for having lost the streak to Lesnar, and seemingly a guy who's constantly been shit on for being a bad worker, and retired because he couldn't get his own way 12 years ago, is now some superhuman squash machine.
And WWE wonders why the ratings are a fraction of what they used to be. McMahon is pulling the same shit he condemned WCW for!

I have zero enthusiasm for the WWE as it is today, but I just watched Lesnar - Goldberg II out of curiosity because as a child I loved Goldberg in WCW. WWE seems to be in a bad state when they have to dig up Goldberg to promote the videogame and create excitement for a PPV. For the match itself I had no expectations at all, because the character Goldberg only worked in short matches he dominated and Lesnar himself was - at least as far as I know - build up the same in his second stint in WWE. And since I do not care about Lesnar, I actually liked the outcome, because it won't change the way I think about WWE. Fully understand why real fans might not like the match and continued rivalry, though.
From the video I saw, the crowd reaction to Goldberg's entrance was great and I was actually happy to see that. And to me, there is no sequence as exciting as the Spear-Jackhammer combination. |

I'm less concerned about who won or ost last night, than an issue which no one has really reported... per UK betting lines, every betting line underdog won last night. All of them. And keep in mind these betting lines are for matches whose results are predetermined, or can otherwise be at least manipulated.
That brings up two questions: 1. Is the WWE purposely booking based upon "swerving" the betting lines? If so, it might explain why some of these storylines suck, since this kind of booking would essentially be a "completion backwards" principle. 2. Seeing as how every underdog won last night, and an inordinate number of longshots have won in previous PPVs, woudn't this serve up "insider betting" on a silver platter? Could the WWE be complicit in an illegal scheme? Think about it... |

These were the odds I saw last night courtesy of Wrestlezone. They say these were the lines posted at 5dimes. Don't know how much they changed before showtime.
