However, in case anyone's interested: Little (Lil) Cinderella works in photography and digital imaging. Her stuff is a little Starbucks-stucco for my taste, but people love safe art and it seems like she's doing well.

Very interesting. I wonder if her work only consists in self portraits, or if she shoots other subjects as well.

She does, but to me it's all very safe and detached. Even her ethnocentric portraiture is distinctly first-world, chic and overtly feminine. 'This is a market in Japan', 'this is an African child', etc.

However, I'm inherently biased against digital photography and post-processing because they've become the auto-tunes of art: suddenly anyone that claims to be an artist can instantly become one.

If you're going to call yourself an 'artist', first learn to use an SLR and rely on your eye like every great photographer before 2001. I chose to buy and refurbish my Canon AE-1 purely on the basis that it was the camera of choice for photojournalists during the Vietnam war.

That being said, she's a skilled commercial photographer and there's nothing wrong with that. Just not my cup of tea.
