As someone who recently broke their ankle (just weeks before UFC 261) I can tell you I cringed when I saw the 2 main event fights with the leg injures! Watch the reply....FUCK No!!

263 on Saturday. Should be a good one.
I want to see Adesanya vs. Vettori go at it again. Vettori should have shed some of that baby fat by now and this time I'd like to see him cram his fist right down the throat of that arrogant fuck Adesanya. The fight of the night though in my opinion will be the Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno rematch for the 125 lb belt. They beat each other senseless last December and fought to a draw thanks to Figueiredo losing a point for that kick to the nads of Moreno. This one should be epic. I would pay huge to get 3 minutes in the ring with Dana White. Or the 15 seconds I'd need with pelham lol. |

I'm waiting with some anticipation for UFC 264. Hoping of course that Poirier will whip McGregors ass one more time. It's interesting how McGregor isn't playing the bad boy anymore - or at least not that I've seen.
Intersting to see Carlos Condit is now relegated a Prelims spot. The fight that really interest me is actually Ryan Hall v Ilia Topuria. I love watching Hall fight even though he has only had four fights since 2015. I have no idea what Ilia Topuria is like so I can't even guess at how it will go, but can't wait to see. |

So the way I see it, a problem with the result from the Poirier-Connor fight is that a broken ankle means he can still talk perfectly well. Which he did and seemed to be just a hacksaw shy of actually shoving the broken foot in said mouth.
The bigger problem for me is with Dana immediately saying that of course they'll fight again. I see no big need for that, especially if Poirier goes on to win the title since that would be, to me, a backdoor way of getting Connor back in a title fight. That's if Dana wants the 4th fight as soon as Connor is healthy with no other comeback fight first. I would have Connor fight a couple of dudes to ladder his way back, maybe the 4th fight if Poirier isn't the champion and has interest. But no more of this just having him near the title just because he's Connor. |

UFC 264

Interesting night all round. Starting off with Zhaglas Zumagulov. What a little beast - the speed in which he jumped on that weird ass choke was stunning. Felt sorry for Jermome Rivera though as its doubtful that he'll be fighting in the UFC for a long time. Even though my boy Ryan Hall got KOed I thoroughly enjoyed him going after Topuria's legs. Some strange Monkey Kung Fu there. Michel Peira - more outrageous Monkey Fung Fu. Sean O'Malley looked amazingly sharp but dang was Chirs Mutinho amazing to watch. 0% Monkey Kung Fu 100% Zombie. I'd like to see what would have happened if they went to 5 rounds but my Buddy Herb Dean stopped it early - again!!! How about that one L-Kabong? And then there was the main event... Quote:
Well I don't enjoy watching anybody break both bones in their lower legs. It's not that I'm sympathetic, it's simply the ick factor. The only reason I was sorry the fight ended in the way that it did was because it looked like Poirier was going to perform a full Khabib on McGregor and beat the living snot out of him in the process. That would have been a much more satisfactory conclusion. Whatever Dana may say, I believe McGregors days are numbered. First of all recovering from such a severe break to both bones in the lower leg is going to take one hell of a long time, and that leg will probably never be the same again. If he does recover from the injury he also has to rebuild both his mind and body after a long layoff. I don't think Dustin would be obliged in any way to accept another McGregor fight if offered. And when you look at some of the animals in that division ( 4. Michael Chandler, 3. Benil Dariush, and 2. Justin Gaethje) all clamoring for a title fight, it's difficult to see where McGregor would fit in. And then of course you have Khabib's boy Islam Makhachev sitting at no. 9, and he's likely to come roaring through the division in the next 6 months of so. Anyway - for now I'm a happy camper. McGregor's gone from the scene for I expect will be a year or more. Happy times. |

---------------- We almost saw the upset of the year at UFC 266 as Brian Ortega almost pulled a rabbit out of his hat against Alexander Volkanovsk when in the third round that choke hold that came out of nowhere almost put Volkanovski on the mat for good until they wriggled out of it. Even he admittedly said he was seeing stars and losing his championship flashed before his eyes as desperation kicked in, that's about as close as Ortega ever came to winning that match though. Marvin Vettori and former fighter turned commentary mouthpiece Paul Felder went a few rounds on Twitter over the quality of Felder’s commentary at UFC 266 as well. Just remember Felder, those that can, do, those that can't, teach, or beak about it. ----------------- I'm now 7-0-0 with 6 KO's after last weekend and its a testament to my trainers that even some guys pass on getting in a cage with me at our gym lol. I'm generally a sweetheart but 2 places you don't want to fuck with me are in the cage and at a good shoe sale LOL |

On a different note from UFC 266, I really hope Nick Diaz does not continue to fight. He threw and landed a lot, but his punches did not really have a lot of "pop". And his post-fight interview in the cage was downright scary, showing slurred speach and incoherent sentences. Regarding Valentina Shevchenko, I really think she needs to fight Amanda Nunez again. I don't care at which weight class, but there is simly no other fighter that is capable to even make her sweat. |
