I thought this was the least hyped McGregor fight for a very long time. Even the pre-fight press conference was a pretty tame event with both Cowboy and McGregor exchanging compliments instead of insults. Anyway, I'm just glad the UFC is back up and running. It has been a long break since the last event. To fill my need for violence I've watched several of the old Bellator events. After that there's no question in my mind, the standards in Bellator are nowhere near as high as the UFC - althought I did see some good fights. |

I think its funny that it seems he's intent on going 170 now since Khabib doesnt want to bother with him again, and Connor has *never* called out Tony and doesnt seem to want to have his face elbow sliced into oblivion...but instead wants a knighting by masvidal agreed on Bellator - good but it aint the top tier that UFC is. |

Why should Holly Holm, physically still in peak shape, retire just because she faught a boring fight in which she nonetheless totally dominated in an area where she would have been out of her depth not too long ago? It is not her fault "Rocky" was utterly misprepared and had cheerleaders instead of coaches in her corner. It was hilarious hearing their "instructions" during breaks, they had no plan and couldn't adjust.
Oleinik vs.Greene was a weird fight, Greene showed remarkable toughness in the first round, in round 2 both of them looked absolutely shot. The main event was short, yet an impressive showing by McGregor in my opinion. He was clearly well prepared and had a plan how to fight Cowboy. Cowboy was - none of that, got surprised by those shoulder blocks that busted his face. He should think about retiring, was sad to see him walking out greeting wife and son and then get absolutely demolished within seconds. |

I understand the sentiment wrt Holm, but I think that only exists because of the lack of depth in the division, and if someone's hellbent on holding you in the octagon then it seems to happen easily enough - and even Dana White was wondering wtf was going on and said he was ready to get up and walk away during that fight because Herzog should have broken them up 5x over. I think most of her fights have been relatively boring and she only got spotlight because Rousey couldnt throw her face into Holm's fists fast enough when they fought. To see her talking about wanting to go for Champs again is simply facepalm worthy, Amanda destroyed Holm so badly and even whacked her with her own signature kick, she has every bit the chance of getting a belt as Cowboy does at this point. (granted she had it once where cowboy didnt, but the chances of either of them holding it in the future is about the same, imo.)
And I'll admit I'm biased against McGregor because of his total and complete lack of sportsmanship, which made his behavior vs Cerrone out to be just a larp. |

Khabib addressing rumors of a $100mil offer to fight Connor in Saudi Arabia:
“Why do I need that kind of money, there are so many organizations... There’s not only football for the blind, there’s Sambo and other sports. Let (the UFC) give it to them if they don’t know what to do with the money. But giving me $100 million to beat up that idiot again? I don’t think that’s rational.” |

Did anyone see Jon Jones vs. Dominick Reyes? Was really impressed by Reyes, although he noticeably tired in the 4th and 5th round. Given that Jones was the defending champion and that the fight was a tale of two halves, I can live with a Jones' win. But holy hell, how could the one judge, that had been scoring questionable the entire evening, have Jones ahead 4 rounds to 1? This should never happen and this person should be banned from future fights.
Jones showed some resilience and amazing conditioning, but that was about all. Wasn't too impressed with anything else he did, really. Together with his last fight, he seems to be tailing downwards a bit, for whatever reason (age, off the juice, whatever), |

I'd agree with you that Jones wasn't uber impressive. He seems to have lost a little bit of that ultra sharp sniper quality that he used to have. But maybe you have to give a bit of credit to Reyes for crimping Jones' style. |

I thought the only reason Santos lost to Jones was his absolutely destroyed knee, otherwise Thiago without a doubt would have won that fight. The field is catching Jones just like the field caught Rousey.

Reyes so very clearly won rounds 1-3 and it makes me wonder if the judge who gave Jones 49-46 was the same judge that somehow insanely gave Lauren Murphy a 30-27 over Andrea Lee, when Lee won every aspect of that fight. During that one I had to facepalm when Joe Rogan was like "what is up with these judges, they arent even watching the fight, one's looking down and the other two are talking to each other"...its just fkn ridiculous. If I wanted to watch shit officiating geared towards pleasing the betting tables, I'd turn on the NFL. Latifi kinda but not really got robbed, but I'm of the opinion that takedowns that dont go anywhere or cause any damage arent really worth much at all, same with just holding against the fence - and I'm glad to see officiating reflecting that, because its boring no matter how much Rogan says we should let them lay there indefinitely when nobody's advancing their position. Plus I like Black Beast and laughed my ass off when Joe Rogan asked him how he prepared and he said he smoked weed 24/7 to prepare for his octagon interview with joe rogan. Rogan mentioned some other wack decision, but I missed the early ones. Bottom line is, Dana needs to start firing motherfuckin judges that produce such shit decisions. If its right out wack like you werent even watching the fight, you should be immediately dismissed and fuck off to the lower fighting orgs. Valentina, tho....damn. Its just as well Maycee isnt going to face her too soon, because there isnt a soul in the division that can challenge her, and I will bet she wins next time she faces Amanda. Giles looked impressive, surprised Krauss lasted Liked Bautista's here have knee no wait this knee instead Props to Ige for pulling that one off |
