Unless there is some sort of a proxy script for vbulletin/phpbb that can leech all bam/box images and auto replace the links most forums are about to lose a lot of weight. Small time poster like me can replace 200-300 posts, but thats not really an option for the rest...

I don't know about options. Most of the chronic money posters will probably just continue on and leave a wake of dead images behind them. It's not like most of them haven't done it every other single time a host of some sort had died.

There's not much profit in re-upping old stuff. A lot of work for diminishing returns.

Yes. Mostly people who care more about sharing than profit will go back and do the extra work.

I never earned a single penny from the 1000s of movies I posted on Planet Suzy.

I care about sharing and that's why I did it but I am not doing the extra work to fix all thosse 10 of 1000 of images in my 3400+ movie posts in Vintage and Classic.

Not only the diminishing returns but they would have to know which exactpreview went with which post. Many will put simple descriptions without names. Yeah, no one is going through that trouble through 10,000 posts LOL

Can PS provide their own hoster that we could reliably count on? Pimpandhost doesn't seem as great thesedays since the layout change.

I am seeing a lot of newer posts with imagetwist, maybe that's the new one... but nothing would be worse than jumping over to another host that might die soon. Imagevanue has been around for along time though, maybe that's another good choice.

This is going to be a massive headache for me, but yeah I can only imagine those who have 10x more posts than me... fuck

Imagevenue is useless to me with their 3MB per file limit.

IPB has a remote image cache mod that caches remote images and rebuilds the posts to update them with the cached version. Something similar can be done here, but PS will have to bear the cost of hosting the images to keep them alive and develop/test the mod for vbulletin if there isn't one already...
