So - apparently Dana White prefers Khabib V Ferguson over a Khabib/McGregor rematch. I'm surprised but pleased if it's true.

Speaking about "going over the fence" ... Do you all think that the UFC is finally thinking about putting some sort of top over the cage? Sort of like the cage matches in the (Fake) Professional Wrestling like the WWE? I mean that have got to start thinking about some way to prevent guys jumping up there or climbing up it then jumping off the top rail and other stunts.

While not quite the same thing I wondered the other night as I watched Legacy Fighting that the cage was not the same as the UFC and there is another MMA company that has a curcle cage, made me think about the actual size in the fighting area, and the mat the fighters are on. IS there some sort of regulation in the overall Sanctioned MMA rules that says the fighting area has to be X number of feet inside the area, and the mat has to be made of X material and padding has to be X amount? |

A roofed octagon would have to be 11 maybe 12 feet tall to allow for guys like Struve taking a running jump . Personally I don't think the UFC really care all that much about guys jumping on or out of the ring - if at all. It's almost a tradition at this point. Quote:

Yeah I had heard of that before my self, referring to the "Octagon"
I believe another company claimed rights to "Decagon" It just made me wondered what was regulated and what was not, it just seem to be to be a logical thing to do is to regulate the square footage inside the cage and the type of mat and floor that is being used. I say this because at some point something might happen (fighter gets injured or complains about a loss) due to the type of mat or surface that was in use. The same thing happens in the NFL, I vividly remember a game being called off due to the playing field being very poor, joints too wide and such. I still think that one day one of the camera guys will accidentally drop his camera in the ring while a fight is happening live. LOL

I like Derrick Lewis a lot, but this has to be one Daniel Cormier easier fights. So, many ways Cormier can win, where Lewis has to get a lucky punch to win. So, no free eats from 2-4 on Sunday. I hope Lewis wins thou!

Okay it's Tuesday and perhaps it's okay to discuss the Fights on UFC 230 that happened this past Saturday?
I think it's safe to say that the main fight was a bit disappointing, and even looked somewhat staged. It sure looked to me that it was a bit like a WWE fight were it looks like it was predetermined what was to happen, not saying that it actually was of course but man DC took Lewis down very easy and if it was that easy to take him down then why didn't other fighters do it when they were in a match against him. The other thing that came to mind was that they (UFC) wanted to appease both the fighters and the fans that wanted to see this matchup and give DC a match before he fights the "JUICED" up Brock Lesner (a match Brock is very likely to win). I like DC but let's face it Brock is HUGE and he's always using PID's which is going to make him difficult to beat. The Weidman Vs Souza was shocking and I can see why Souza was upset with the referee, it was a late stoppage, but I can also see that the referee was out of position to see what happened and thus could not tell how bad Weidman was hurt until he got a close look at him. Israel Adesanya Vs Derek Brunson was good to see but hated how cocky IA was and wished someone would crush him and put him in his place but looking at how McClucker (Conner McGregor) looses fights and it doesn't diminish how arrogant and cocky he is, I really don't think it will change him much. There are just too many fighters these days that are way too arrogant before they have proven anything lasting in the ring to show that they are that damn good. It seems to me that many think they are great long before they even earn a title shot. Look I'm all for having confidence but many take it 10 steps farther then simple confidence.

Souza v Weidman was a terrific fight - shame it ended the way it did. No question that Dan Murgliotta got it waaaaaaaaay wrong. Some would argue it's his job to be in the right position. Having said that we all make mistakes. Yes!!! Even Me!!! Hehe - I quite like Israel Adesanya!!! Sure he's cocky, but not in the obnoxious McClucker mold. I saw him on JRE MMA Show #35, and he seemed quite a nice guy. And as for McClucker himself - he hasn't been very vocal since Khabib took him down. A couple of other great fights on the card: Matt Frivola v Lando Vannata - holy shit!!! Jordan Rinaldi v Jason Knight was pretty good too. I was really impressed with Rinaldi, but took against him the instant he opened his mouth in the post fight interview. If there's one thing I hate more than McClucker style it's those fighters who insist on preaching religion and telling you how fucking holy and pious they are. |
