I retired Winamp and need a new Player
Hi fellas,
I've been using Winamp as far as I can remember. But... some days ago it managed to mess up his whole database for the third time in about a year, and again the only solution seems to wipe it and start it all over - again. So now I deinstalled Winamp and use my videoplayer to do this job. I use Potplayer for this and as it's primarily meant for vids it really lacks media managment abilities. I really need help in search of a new Music-Organizer-Player - I don't want to use some All-Out-Media-Manager like XMBC because it seems to heavy-weight - I just want some solid, modest Music-Player with the ability to organise and display my Music in a clear way. - And NO, no ITunes. As I also found PotPlayer, a true miracle of a videoplayer, in this forum, so I'm really expecting some good advice on this one |

Yeah, AIMP is the best option, great sound, plays all formats and low CPU usage.

Foobar2000.
It's free, very light, good looking, gapless playback, custom interface (plus presets), supports ReplayGain, album cover art, customizable keyboard shortcuts (global keys), supports a wide variety of formats (MP3, WMA, AC3, AAC, OGG, WAV, FLAC, DVD-A, SACD, DTS, etc). There's more, but I don't want to sound like a freakin' salesman. Highly recommended.

Did not try Jet, but it lookes impressive, but as you say yourself - a bit too heavy on the ram and cpu usage.
Tried AIMP though - Thanks for the hint. It feels solid and has a very slick design. It almost brought me to stop looking for a new player... But I remebered Ramm's post: Quote:
But I found this lifehacker-tutorial A whole afternoon later it looks quite neat, not nearly as sleek as AIMP or WHINEAMP but quite clear. I absolutely love that there's nothing you can't costumise to your needs. Needs lot of work to set up, but once done you got your own, really unique player. So thanks again everbyody. Problem solved for the next decade... |
