I am devasted by this news. To say I am a Deep Purple fan would be understating it to say the least. If it were only measured by Jon's contribution to music it would be major alone. Deep Purple "Made" live recordings. To me no group can ever Just be measured by the tracks the lay down in the studio. It is what is presented on stage to the audience that truly makes a band great. In every incarnation Purple was great. But Blackmore is the King of ALL, so MK2 and 3 are favored here. As for Jon only two other players were even in his class. I remember when I was much younger helping him and Ian load some new band equipment into their truck when I was walking down a street in White Plains NY and how amazed they were at my knowledge of the band. Sad
