![]() How many folks here like anime? Anime is a cultural phenomena that originally came from Japan. In America when we think of animated tv shows and movies we think of Disney, Pixar, and Saturday morning cartoons aimed at pre-teens to teenagers. In Japan most anime series are actually originally from a source called Manga or Light Novels (comic books for adults). When a manga series gets really hot (like action series like Bleach or Naruto) they turn it into an anime series. Or a series of light novels get turned into Shakugan No Shana (a great anime series about a girl with a sword and magic using friends that fight evil monsters to keep her city safe while they attend high school).
In Japan they make animated tv shows and movies for folks of all ages. You can find anime series on just about everything under the sun. Make no mistake in assuming they are for kids. Many anime series have plenty of nudity, swearing, and gore as well as subject matter our own evening TV shows would never touch. So my question is this... If you like anime (and if you never bothered to watch any you are seriously missing out) which 1 series is your all time favorite and why? For me my favorite series out of all that I have watched is Claymore. It was a 26 episode series that tells the tale of a world very similar to our middle ages where demons roam the lands disguised as humans and they hunt us for food. Demons love to eat the intestines, liver, kidneys, etc... of a human while they are alive. Fighting against the demons are a company that has spliced demon DNA into young women that they then train to become mighty warriors. The girls use massive 2 hand Claymore swords. The girls are also ranked by skill so #1 is the most powerful and #2 is second most powerful, etc... The heroine of the series is a young Claymore called Claire. She is ranked #47 and considered the bottom of the barrel. How she progresses thru the story, makes friends (and enemies), and fights to survive until the final episode is an amazing tale. The series does have a considerable amount of horror and gore in it (beheadings, amputations, bisections and such happen) so its not a series for the kids to see. |

Most things are stupidly easy to understand. . . . those who couldn't follow Mission Impossible are really in trouble. . . Evangelion on the other hand has so many layers that after episode 19 it becomes so introspective that it is truly a masterpiece! It has the most complex plot of any form of media I have ever seen. http://veterperementour.ru/showthread.php...ght=evangelion |

![]() There is so many to choose from these days. I would have to go with Hokuto No Ken/Fist Of The North Star as my all time favourite anime.

![]() I was introduced to anime by my nephew years ago. He brought over Akira and the Escaflowne boxed set. I was hooked after that. Then came Vampire D and Hellsing and Elfen Leid and I realized just how dark anime can be. Since then so many amazing series have aired and I still to this day follow every week the new stuff thats currently airing.
Weekly in this current season I watch Dragon Crisis, Fairy Tail, Fracting, Freezing (lots of violence and fan service), Gosick, Kimi Ni Todoke, Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka (boy murdered by a serial killer is resurected by a beautiful necromancer and they search for his killer), Puella Magi Madoka Magica (appeared to be a cute magical anime and turned very dark when 1 heroine had her head bit off by a monster), Letter Bee, and Index/Tomma. |
