I bought a new 990 Evo Plus 4tb for $250 for my computer to use as the boot drive. Before I was using a 860 Evo 500gb older style 2.5" ssd it is a lot slower. It took me one full day to get it setup I cloned Windows 11 over to the new ssd and it showed up as 446gb there was 3tb unallocated it took me a good while to merge the two together. Now this HP Victus 15L maxed only other upgrade I could do is get special 700w HP power supply which costs $124 ripoff for that price I could get a 900w to 1100w standard power supply.

This could almost go in Sense of accomplishment, because that's how I feel about this shit. For the sake of clarity, when I say Chromebook, I mean a Chrome OS imitation laptop, not an inexpensive and light Windows laptop. People sometimes confuse or conflate the two.

A couple days ago, I bought myself an older Lenovo ThinkPad T490 14" Laptop (renewed). It's essentially an old, but upgradable (if need be) business computer. I did this on the recommendation of friend who's an IT professional and apparently, these older business computers are a really good bang for the buck. However, the reason I did this, is because I'm sick and tired of the shitty Chromebook (CB) experience. I have a desktop PC too, but this particular CB lives in my kitchen and I use it a ton; For YouTube, recipes and general search engine stuff....but long story short, the CB is a POS.

In the past nine years, I've owned two CBs and this is the second and last CB I will ever own. I actually wrote out a huge list of seven major reasons why I'll never buy another CB, but I removed it, to spare you all. I didn't want to bore anyone with TL;DR.

Anyway, I'm back in traditional laptop land, baby! Getting that CB monkey POS off my back is a 'Sense of accomplishment'. The 'new' laptop should be here in a few days!!! By the way, it ended up costing less than a new mid-range CB and it has a ton more uses and much more computational power, because you know, it's an actual computer. Don't waste your money on a shitty CB experience - even an expensive CB will be a turd - almost immediately.

I know it's a more expensive way to do it, but I bought a 1TB NVMe for a boot drive and programs I use a lot, like Photoshop (so they load faster, because the PCIe slot is closer to the CPU) and then I also bought a 4TB NVMe for bulk storage, like games, etc. It's already over half full, because games are fucking ginormous nowadays. It also make sense for when you have to do an OS reinstall/refresh (I'm looking at you, Windows ), you don't loose your bulk storage (you pop the bulk NVMe out, before the process).

Nevertheless, that's some nice kit you got there!!

I run Waterfox with 150 tabs, Floorp with 12 to 15 tabs and Topaz Video AI before getting this new ssd with the 2.5" ssd my resource usage was at 85% to 95% and Waterfox quit often froze 10 seconds. Now with this new ssd my computer resource usage is 65% to 75% and it running very smoothly even when running Topaz. The new ssd does not make any program run faster it just keeps my computer from total usage being overloaded. My computer is not the fastest it is still a pretty decent computer HP Victus 15L Ryzen 7 5700g 32gb 3200mhz and 4060ti 16gb. My computer before this one is a Dell XPS 8500 I7 3770 24gb 1660mhz RX6600 XT I got a nice upgrade.
