you mean like in media, fashion, etc? anything before woke and the cult of ugliness. in general i would say from the 80s to today because people having more information of what they can do for themselves like gym and diet, self care, sports etc

I lived thru the 80's and 90's and maybe it's because I live in the middle of nowhere, but the 80's look stayed well past it's welcome and past the 90's, but the people here didn't get the memo. I'm talking about the big teased hair, tons of makeup, etc. Just picture an 80's hairband and that's what the women here looked like, for a few decades.

I don't know if you're talking about normal people or celebs, because there was plenty of bad cosmetic surgery in those days, but it was mostly celebs and porno actresses, because it was really expensive for normal women. It's nothing new though, the first breast implant was 120 years ago and the silicone implant was invented in 1961. Anyway, you're right about the stupid/ugly tats, except that MANY woman in the western world had a "Tramp Stamp" back then. The barbed wire tattoo around the bicep/triceps became popular around the 2000's too, for both men and women. We can't forget about tribal tattoos and Chinese script tattoos. But I know what you really meant; The sleeve tats, the mural tats, the face tats, etc.

Every generation has high points and low points. I'm sure some kids today will look back in 20 or 30 years and say "My hair looked like broccoli, what the fuck was I thinking"? Maybe they'll regret some of the copious tattoos they got as well.
