First post hurdle cleared, now a bunch of newbie questions.

1) Is it okay for me to post some the stuff I have so people can request?
Most of what I have is a huge mess that I need to clean, but I do have a few solid collections and and access to some other stuff. Would I be breaking any rules? Could it cause any other kind of problem for me? I mean, I'm far from actually coming even close to my posting limit, so I might as well help people if I have something they are struggling to find. It would also help with focus. I am from reaching my limit, so I can make room for that in my quota.

2) How does the prohibited list work?[/B]
in Group Models I found several threads dedicated to content from sites that are in the prohibited list, such as Re@l1tyK1ngs. How does that work, exactly?

3) How to present my content?[/B]

[B]3.1) Should I compress files if they are too large, or do people prefer their own thing?

3.2) If I split a file, what is a good reference for the sizes of the parts? I know there are rules limiting how much you can split a file, but I don't understand the reasoning for them. If I do it, I'd usually aim for similarly-sized parts between 1 and 2GB in size. I cannot imagine why someone would split a file into 8 parts or more. Though I can see some convenience in downloading different parts from different hosts at the same time. Thoughts?

3.3) My next few posts will have the videos in 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and 2160p, is that overkill? Would anyone be interested in 2160p if the size difference to 1080p is too big?

3.4) How much information about the file do people care about? It seems that only video length, format, and file size? Am I missing something?

4) Is there anywhere offering some reviews of the hosting sites, explaining pros and cons of each one, stuff like that? Ifound threads dedicated to each one of them, but some had upwards of a 100 pages, going back over 10 years! If someone could help me with finding the right knowledge, it would be awesome.

I can't conclusively speak for the rest of the membership, but...

Asking a bunch of questions like this in one post is annoying. Ask one question, get feedback, ask another.

1.) There isn't any rule against it, but there also isn't really any appropriate place to do it. We do have request threads, but we don't have a thread (or a section) for "Here's what I have... does anyone want any of this?"

2.) To be honest, we don't really discuss this a whole lot on the open forum. Stick around, you'll figure it out.

3.) Do whatever. I ZIP picture sets and RAR just about everything else. I have my reasons for doing so. Splitting... just follow the rules, they exist for a reason. Resolutions... up to you, post them all if you wish. I can tell you that the links for the huge files die fairly quickly, which is a very good indication that people don't download them. File information... each section has rules about what file information is required, these rules might be universal, I'm not sure. Read the rules before you post in any section, they might vary from one section to another.

4.) Well yes, but not in the way that you're looking for. We're a fairly global form and some hosts work better in some parts of the world than others. The most popular hosts are better for uploaders, the less popular hosts are better for downloaders. (Generally)

Oh, my bad. I apologise. I thought I was being efficient by not overflooding the forum with questions. That's how I usually do in other communities where I participate. But hey, always learning. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Figures. I just wanted to get a better idea of how things work because I didn't want to do any bannable offense. The long list of prohibited stuff was kinda scary.

I see. I just wanted a bit more of a reference because I tend to freeze with too many things I don't fully understand.

This is not the place for requesting media; it is (primarily) for issues surrounding technical issues, or similar forum-related issues.

Also, you need to contribute before making requests. We want to see you contribute to the board so we know you're not here to leech. There are plenty of places here to contribute (discussions, games, etc.)... one we see you want to be part of the community, we will consider a promotion so you can then maker requests.
