What happens after you're gone?

Not in a big, philosophical sense, but have you ever thought about what will happen to your porn collection when you expire?

Had a health scare yesterday that got me wondering very seriously about it. I hate the thought of my kids finding That Section of my hard drive.

What do you do?

pepo dont have kids yet but when pepo, jr. looks at Daddy's hard drive after i go to that big taco palace in the sky, he's going to find a very large file titled "Chores for pepo, jr. To Do."

he'll never open it.

I don't have kids, but if I did, I wouldn't want to wish this curse upon their lives. I was young when I started collecting porn, and the porn collection I have now makes my old collection seem like Teletubbies in comparison. My kids would turn into insta-perverts rabidly beating themselves off if I gave them the keys to my digital kingdom. So I would probably have a good friend destroy it, or keep it, I'm dead so I wouldn't care at that point.

There is a brilliant bit, maybe creepy depending on your perspective, in the Warren Zevon semi-biography "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead". Bear in mind this is very near the start of the book, setting the tone.

Warren died of terminal cancer in 2005 and his son Jordan says in the book "Dad knew he was ill.. so we had the porn discussion. He told me where all the videotapes were and to get them the hell out of his apartment before other loved ones / authorities arrived."

When Jordan put one of the "Adult movies" on, what he didn't expect to see was that it would be of his father's personal home made Fuck Tapes with his many Sex Buddies he shot and kept over the years.

There is a lot of debauchery in the book - including domestic violence meted out to the mother of his children, Crystal who was also the author of the book - nothing is as shocking or hilarious as this intro and it is a fabulous book.

If you read also Marilyn Manson's biography "The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell", he starts the book by saying that Hell, to him, was his grandfather's cellar, where he kept all kinds of "kinky" stuff (his grandma didn't even knew about all the stuff his grandpa had in there), and where he also witnessed his grandpa jerking it off, one day, as well.
Of course from there on it gets pretty darker and grim in tone (growing up, lots of sex, bullies, rock and hard drug abuse, up to the point where protesters wanted to completely ban his tour dates).
But, to this day, it is one of the many books that I like to revisit, every once in awhile.

It is really a crazy and wild read, hilarious at times, clever as well.
You don't have to be a Manson fan to enjoy the book.

It's pretty likely I would leave my stuff to my wife and friends, and very likely my friends might get some of my hardware. I imagine if they happen to go through the files, they would probably just respectfully delete it.
