Oh, and another thing I just remembered, I got a pair of house slippers that I gave my father for Christmas last year and he simply stuck them on a shelf and regifted them right back to me. Disappointing, in a way, but I've already been wearing them, and I'll have his entire shoe collection sooner than I want it anyway.

Weather forecast here is for the worst snow and ice event in 31 years to begin in the overnight early hours of Thursday night / Friday morning.

I bought $279 worth of groceries concentrating on sandwiches, finger foods, and items which do not require heating or cooking.

I also stopped by the liquor store and bought a bottle of whiskey and a bottle of vodka. Those will last two months whether we actually spend three days home alone or not.

Our power grid here is under ground, and we rarely lose power even when communities nearby suffer wires falling from ice weight. But I seriously hope we spend three days at home. We could use the rest.

Had to go out of town today on a short business trip. Decided to hit a thrift store on the way home.

First, I found a nice little saucepan. There is a running joke in my family that WF needs a saucepan because I have so many of them I have to stack them in the cabinet very precisely. But a lifetime guarantee saucepan for two bucks, couldn't turn it down.

Then I went over to clothing and I found a pair of shoes in really good shape for $13. My Dad could teach the military how to polish shoes; I got no problem with the little scuffs on them. Once I got home I looked them up online. The cheapest I found them was $92.50. Some were listed at $335!

I added two Ralph Lauren shirts, a long sleeve t-shirt and a t-shirt for four dollars more.

Dad and I are the same shoe size. I'm thinking about letting him have this pair. I've already polished them to mirror status.
