There are many reasons why (not), but the short answer is that most members prefer it this way.

PATM threads used to be consolidated. We divide them a long time ago, and virtually everyone was happy with the split. It took a few weeks as I recall. The work was tedious to say the least.

To re-combine them would take a lot of work and it would also create concerns that you probably have not considered, such as subscriptions.

Ultimately such a decision will be left to the staff, but if I catch wind of any discussion on the matter I will resist consolidation.

I even once suggested a PATM 4k section to separate the content further. Staff decided against it as it was ultimately seen as not needed and that's a fair point even though I disagreed. But going the other way, merging HD and SD, is definitely the wrong way.

Given the iterations that happened over time, the rules of PATM SD and HD diverged and are not compatible anymore so that merging them would create a new and unneccessarily complex PATM rules superset. And I'm not even mentioning Pics here. Merging these sections would create a mess for effectively no benefit. It's all downsides and no upside.

I wouldn't be opposed to that.

PATM VR would also make sense. While you can search for videos with VRVID, they are pretty useless to the vast majority of people who don't have a VR device.

And then you would've also had to make sub-sections or specific tags for VR as well, as it comes in different formats (Cardboard/Samsung/Oculus/Pico/VIVE/Apple) and different resolutions/flavors (4K, 8K, 12K).

IMHO, considering how VR is still a niche for consuming Porn and other media (I do have a Quest 3, but I use it mainly for productivity, not for Porn) I wouldn't probably bother with a new section, for now.

When I initially suggested PATM 4k years ago, 4k was established and an increasing amount of 4k content was released that also provided a noticeable advantage over most 1080p content if it was played on a decent 4k screen.

I considered PATM 4k to be the consequential next step to keep things organized and put the then large files in an easy to find place where people interested in them could find them more easily. The argument was made that 4k is just another form of HD and while that is true, it means that all future content starting with 720p will be in PATM HD. I didn't believe that this would be a sustainable concept since multiple video resolutions in one post (720p, 1080p, 2160p, ...) has an effect on forum usability.

I took it as a potential proactive change when there still was time to implement it instead of having to make a reactive change later. One argument against PATM 4k was that it would have been too much work to separate the already posted 4k content and put it in the new section, which I thought was a moot point really, because a) this isn't strictly necessary as this problem would solve itself over time when all new 4k posts would be placed in the new section and b) this problem, if it is one, will only ever increase in size over time if a decision in favor of PATM 4k would be made later.

By 2025, the situation has somewhat changed, because more recently some studios have started releasing generously high bitrate 1080p videos while the previously generously treated 4k videos are lacking a bit. Some don't really look much different from the 1080p versions. Very decent and worthwhile 4k versions are still released though, obviously, and we've also seen the first disgustingly beautiful and disgustingly large 8k videos that, I think, have no place in PATM HD for very similar reasons that HD videos have no place in PATM SD.

Filejoker is named that for a reason. Depending on the size of the file, downloads can take all day... Or worse, if the download, which promises to be done in 12 hours (what a deal!) fails part-way through, restarting it is impossible, and it pretends the download is still going on until the 12 hours are up, and after it is, it makes you wait 4 hours until you can give it another go. Why does it have so many posters in its pocket?
