Exactly. The core problem is, people equate wealth with innate intelligence and/or skill. This is such a mistake. When you have enough wealth, you can buy the businesses you feel are good in their field, like a rocket company, or a car company - without having to know ANYTHING about rockets or cars.

He's not a genius, or an engineer, or a scientist - he was just born into money. He went to a prestigious business school and had his early life funded, all on his daddy's dime. After that, he made some lucky investments and lied...a lot. "It's a self-driving car", until a crash occurs, then all the blame lies with the driver...especially if someone died as a result.

Listen to any reputable car journalist, who isn't paid off to fellate Electric Jesus' car company, and they'll all say Musk/Tesla are full of shit. For example, Matt Farah of "The Smoking Tire" podcast, or Auto Expert John Cadogan. Both are on YouTube.

Maybe we're all wrong and Musk is good and altruistic, right?

I never made any of those arguments about his character.

And for the record, I don't think very highly of electric vehicles, and doubt that I will until there is a revolution in battery tech. In fact, I enjoy watching the videos of batteries exploding when a Tesla catches fire. I do think some of the complaining about them and driverless vehicles is a bit like horseriders yelling at cars in 1910. The future might be right in front of you, it just hasnt matured yet.

I just don't get the hate for Musk specifically. If the argument is that he has NepoWealth, lets be honest, that is pretty much 90% of folks in the public eye. Should we stop Dakota Johnson or Miley Cyrus from making another film? (yes, but that is another thread) So what is it about Musk that makes him uniquely suited for "stopping"?

Is this about his purchase of Twitter? Because he was a media darling until that moment.

History is full of people like Musk. I fail to see what the issue is , so what , he produces EV's , whether or not his concept he now owns it and Space X is helping continue our space program because Nasa doesn't have the funding because our government refuses to fund it.

I really fail to see the issue with someone contributing to the betterment of society ... even IF it wasn't his idea(s) .... it's his money, let him spend it.

Is he a little screwy? most certainly, most rich people are.

I think the real issue is that he has what most people don't and they want it but wealth redistribution doesn't work, it's called Socialism and it has never worked throughout history .... ever. You need the wealthy to sustain a good economy, without them them there would be anarchy.
