First off I wasn't sure to post this in comments since some of it can help with other films but since I'm posting examples from this film I thought it may be best here.

So thanks to kogi first for his rip. I initially tried upscaling with Topaz but noticed after that the "AI enhancement" had some really horrible edge halo going on which is present in the original file. I could see some colour adjustments were needed but I really wanted to address the over sharpened edges first. After several unsuccessful tries with Topaz's dehalo models, which I don't like anyway since they tend to blur, I tried Hybrid instead. I've tried other stuff but wasn't sure what parameters were needed or which parts so I basically checked every default and it came out quite impressively. See before and after below (ignore colour changes).

If not quite removed in all areas it did an impressive job. Next I went to Davinci Resolve to adjust some of the colour issues. Mostly in the 2 lesbian scenes with levels fluctuating wildly between subscenes. As you can see from before and after here I tried to even out again and some parts are very clearly very different.

This is the early part of this scene with the later parts more like the one below after I'd adjust the early parts for a closer match.

Lastly for comparison before and after thumbnails which are useful for spotting level differences.

Upscaled, dehalo-ed, colour adjustments. Took far longer than planned but results are quite pleasing overall I think.

Feel free to post your upgraded file. I don't mind. My encoding philosophy is mass encoding to a certain standard (your basic T-ford) and I rarely bother with individual files. I do QTGMC when needed and some basic color corrections and brightness adjustments in Avisynth, but I don't have the time and patience to play with a professional color adjustment program.

I view my files as "factory/assembly" outputs and don't mind if some craftsman with dedication wants to improve on them. My personal view is that upscaling is a waste of time and degrades the quality, even when studios do it themselves. But I respect that others might think differently.
