Query on Resolution
Is 3840x2160 (UHD) and 4096X2160 (4K) considered as same?

Is this a philosophical question or are you asking if you can post a scene in one resolution if the other has already been posted?

I'm also not sure how often this would come up. I'd say that it's unlikely that the same scene is released in both resolutions, because they're so close to each other, yet so different in production (because of different aspect ratios). Also, remember that custom re-encodes are not allowed in PATM. Just saying, in case this is somehow connected. |

My two cents, for what it's worth...
From what I've seen, 3840x2160 is the "norm", as it should be, as the height and width are exactly twice of what we're used to, regarding HD (1920x1080) and maintaining a "standard" 16x9 aspect ratio. There are several factors, one of which is the increase in size of today's TVs/monitors. Outliers, such as 4096x2160, can be chalked up to following more theatrical aspect ratios (1.85:1, for example, though the above example is about 1.9:1.). I'm sure at some point that there'll be videos released in today's widescreen aspect ratios, like 47:20, 12:5, etc., if for nothing else, to gauge fan reaction and feedback. Unless AI figures it out, I wouldn't expect any larger videos, especially since some are going back and trying to "upgrade" old videos. As an example, PB has been trying to convert its original 4:3 ratio, 8 fps videos to 1920x1080 videos with whatever fps they can squeeze out of them, to rather mixed results, IMO. |

I'd say anything beyond 3840x2160 is pretty pointless, "consumer-wise" unless, of course, we're talking about VR and videogames, where the extra pixels DO make a difference.
