I use a 4K monitor and a 4K TV for my main screens. My problem personally with porn resolutions are so many of the oddball ones I see. Ones I've never seen in any other standard. And I've played video games on lots of different consoles and various older PC game resolutions (the 320x200 CGA format compared to the 320x240p of consoles comes to mind).

Sometimes I'll find a video and look around the internet to see whatever weird resolution it claims. Often times I won't find a single standard that had ever been used in any other setup. Or short of that, some one-off obscure resolution for reasons I may never understand. This happens with both really low and and really high resolutions.

To be honest though, I tend to care more about video bitrate and videos using as lossless as possible codecs. That way even if it's 480P it will still look really clear. Maybe a bit softer looking. But really clear and very high quality nonetheless.

Still, I know what you mean. If it's in 4K and barely even looks like 1080P or in some cases even 720P, that would indicate a massive failure on the part of the production side of things. Or possibly the camera if it's not tuned the right way I guess (or if it's just cheap and can't output a bitrate that high). Things that were originally made in a prior era get a bit more of a leeway of how good they are expected to be. But if something is produced or even ripped from the DVD in a lazy fashion, it usually shows pretty clearly. Or in this case unclearly.

It's one of the reasons I'm here: to find higher quality versions of videos I may already have.

I don't know why but there's this weird almost inhumaneness in a lot of scenes from the 2010s on. Like despite trying to use more "realistic" scenarios, it's even more unrelatable compared to the pure fantasy aspect of prior decades/generations. Even with an attempt to be more grounded in reality, it feels like even less of a possibility to find myself and others in those situations today. Ends up creating that sort of "boringness" you're referring to I think.

Same. I'm always told that straight porn caters to men less so than women. Not that they can't enjoy it too. Just that they may not be the intended customer.

Like if you told me that, broadly, porn sells the fantasy of men having sex with hot women... I can't say I'd disagree. At least on the whole. Still, that feels like it rings true more so in prior eras than it does now. Sure, it's still there overall. But it seems to come with so much extra baggage that it feels like that idea has become secondary to the other stuff. It still baffles me how stuff like cucking and incest got so popular. Like yeah... people who are into that do indeed exist.

But considering how much of it there is these days, it comes off as if everyone is into it (even when they're not). Porn producers and directors are the ones that get to decide these themes and motifs, not the viewers. So the more recent stuff is just being fed through the biases of the creators and not the watchers.

I'm guessing if you ask the majority of guys what they want to see in porn, it would probably be something as simple as what I mentioned earlier. If someone claimed that all men just want to watch women get sexually abused, beaten and degraded, I'm pretty sure there would be quite a few raised eyebrows and even loud objections from said men pretty quickly.

I guess the one advantage I can see to all of it is that it quickly narrows down that whole paradox of choice problem when 90+% of said choices are stuff I don't even want to see. For instance, I'm not into anal at all. So about 2/3rds of all porn are out the door. Then when you have companies like LP who do what seems like exclusively triple anal penetration and pissing, it's makes the choice even easier because I can just write the entire studio off. I never have to look through their back catalog for something I want... because 99+% says there's nothing there for me anyway. And the 1% I might maybe, possibly want isn't worth the time searching for it. So... that's that. Easy as pie!

After that, the more common things people are or aren't into come into play (I.E condoms, actresses and actors I don't want to watch, etc). At some point, all I ever watch is essentially my top 10% or less at all times. Even though it takes a fuck ton of digging through the vast ocean of porn out there, it's kinda nice actually .
