Default how do i connect bluray player to tv?

Can someone give me or show me where there are step by step instructions on how to connect a Sony BDPS3500 Blu-ray Player to a LG 55" Class 4K UHD Smart LED HDR TV? My friends and I are trying and trying but can not make the tv work with the player. We have connected the HDMI cable from the tv to the player. The problem is that the tv will not recognize, if that is the right way to put it, the player.

Thanks for your help.

I don't have the same TV as you do, but my Samsung 4K 46" TV, whenever I turn the Blu-Ray player on, it always shows a HDMI-1 Connected light under the Source menu.

If you have everything connected regularly, you should see the HDMI Source of your TV lit (instead of greyed out) and the Blu-Ray player Main Menu screen, when you switch Sources.
If that doesn't work, try also to turn both the Blu-Ray player and the TV on at the same time, and in sequential order Blu-Ray Player > TV.
I also read from Sony's website that during the first installation, the player needs awhile, as well, to load all the factory settings.
So make also sure to have a cup of coffee or a sandwich, as well, while you wait.

Try using a different cable, or updating your TV's software.

Can you please clarify how you know 'The TV is not recognising the player'?

Are you cycling through your inputs and there's no signal on any of them?

I don't have an LG TV but my Panasonic displays the Blu Ray recorder input as soon as I put a disc in.

I have a 2 year old LG 55" OLED and I have never had it not "recognize" anything I connect to it using an HDMI cable; very odd.

The LG will grey out the the HDMI inputs if the device is off or one is not connected; I hope that is what you mean by won't recognize?

I'd wiggle the HDMI cable near connection points and see if the HDMI input doesn't brighten and "recognize" the device. I have connected an old PS3, new PS4, nintendo, and an old Oppo blu ray and have never had such a problem.....

Yeah, my Samsung TV does the same, when a HDMI source is not connected.
I think the problem of the OP is that he first turn on the TV, instead of the Blu-Ray player. Or he has the HDMI cable not connected properly, or his cable has a loose pin.
HDMI works different than Analog because if a cable is not connected correctly, or one of the pins is loose, you just won't get any signal at all.
No matter what.

If my solution doesn't work, I would definitely check the cable.

I am not sure 100% but I think I remember having a HDMI cable with a direction to the tv on it. I think I tried it both ways and it did only work the proper way. Just a thought

The HDMI cable connection should indeed be the first port of call when attempting to fix a problem such as this one.

Thank you for your replies.

I did get everything working. I connected the tv with an hdmi cable to a OREI 1x2 HDMI Splitter. Connected the bluray player with an hdmi cable to the OREI 1x2 HDMI Splitter. I connected my audio receiver to the tv with RCA audio connectors.
