I'm amazed at how many girls stop making porn and just disappear and are never heard from again. Lots of rumors about their life but no one ever says "Oh I saw Monica Sweetheart at the supermarket the other day" or "I went into Walmart and Karma Rosenberg was the manager". My personal guess as to why they're not really heard from again is that how recognizable are some of them away from the stage, lights & make-up? I'm willing to bet that a fair amount of them just fade back into obscurity and/ or change back to their less than glamorous looks. I'm sure some of them don't want to be recognized. The tragic ones are the ones that have gone under the knife and don't even look anything like what they looked like before porn and during porn; sadly they're the ones that even their close friends might not even recognize.

I think one going into this sort of profession knows they have a limited career in it and they'd better start making plans for life beyond. But that might be giving a lot of credit to some of them who just live for the moment, make the fast buck and have no comprehension of what lies beyond next week- much less next 10 years. I get the feeling that some of these gals are pretty much disposable to the industry. I also wonder how many of them think they're the next big shit and end up finding out how much work it really is or get discouraged by some unscrupulous scumbag.

It is curious for some of us because we did adore these people on one level at one point- and just want to know they're okay. I'm sure their sexual glory is well past most of them but even on a human level, we still care for them and want to thank them for their work. Even if I saw some golden age porn star in the store I'm not so sure I'd approach her about her past.

There are many parasites of one kind or another (producers, agents, managers, suitcase pimps, internet site owners) in the porn industry that use the girls up and spit them out for another newer model.

The vast majority of girls seem to live the porn star lifestyle or working on a set and then partying into the night. They end up blowing thru their money and addicted to alcohol and drugs. When they leave porn they dont have any more money then when they started. All they have to show for it is a broken down body and an adiction of some kind. The majority of porn girls seem to be of this kind.

Then you have the girls that go into porn with a game plan. They do their scenes on the set and then go home away from porn until their next scheduled work. They invest their money wisely and when they leave porn they own homes and businesses and have a nest egg to retire to. These are the smart girls that use porn instead of porn using them and unfortunately they are in the minority.

Isabella Soprano was a popular porn star who went to work at the Bunny Ranch and became super famous when the ranch became part of an HBO series (was called Cathouse maybe?).
