First thanks for you guys who are puting tons of enhanced content, it's really amazing, thx also to ttboy2008 and his amazing work.

As a beginner i use:
LosslessCut => Cut everything about video, with same settings (dont work with Vob i guess but for the rest it's nice)
Topaz => Everyone know it
FlowFrames => Can do 2x/3x Fps with gpu use, i use it for short sequence only (there is also one part of IA in it)
Vegas pro 19 =>Editing videos etc

For now i just test some stuff since i have an old gpu, i hope this thread gonna be usefull and stay alive and help people.

I was trying to figure out how to fix the aliasing in shitty 200mb porn videos so i tried every filter known to man cranked to max, medium and low settings. Edge smooth fast doesn't do anything to the actual video except make edges a teeny weeny bit sharper, but when you upscale a video you'll notice that the overall upscaled video is very sharp and clean.
I use Edgesmooth fast with QTGMC filter because they balance each other out. But yes if you use edgesmoothfast on its own you won't really see a difference.

So i've been completely decimated by covid. This past 5 days have been nightmares fuel. Thank god i got this shitty omicron version instead of the original or i'ld be dead by now.

I also forgot to mention if there is anybody here that likes AI upscales there's a guy on other forums who goes by the name of Beatdown and he makes some Top quality AI upscales.

I'll hop back here and do a mini hybrid tutorial in a couple days once my headfog disapears. peace.

Topaz is the best AI Upscaler. I would suggest you pirate it or find an old version of Topaz and register for a free trial. Topaz puts a watermark on your upscales if you use a trial, but older topaz did not have the watermark. The last Topaz that doesn't have a watermark with the free trial was 2.0 i beleive.

Well it took me 4 weeks to get over covid. Holy shit it was no joke. I'm going to make a mini hybrid tutorial, but it won't be in depth since. hybrid is a nightmare and you can go way deep into the settings.

Selur's Hybrid for Dummies

I honestly don't know where to start with hybrid. Its The closest you're going to get to avisynth without learning to code. So i'm going to go through the basics and you guys can play with it.
This here is the first tab you're going to see and i've marked everything you need to start in orange.

the first tab is the base tab. All you need to do here is Drag and drop a file where it says "Open files here" or click on the little door and locate your file.

In the processing box you use x264 as topaz has issues with x265 sometimes.
You don't need to use x265 because topaz is going to process your video file anyways. X265 isn't better than x264 it just makes smaller file sizes not better quality. Passthrough All needs to be clicked in the audio section otherwise you'll have a video file with no audio.

There's another door in the middle where i put "Choose Where to Save File". This is where you want the final processed video to end up. I put mine in the windows default download folder.

after you've gone through all the tabs in hybrid, choosed your settings. the final thing you do is come back to the "Base tab" and click the little man on the bottom shoveling to start your job. Its marked on the picture as "Begin Processing Start job"

Then its a waiting game. Hybrid is different from staxrip in that hybrid will use 100% of your cpu until its done processing. a QTGMC file in staxrip that takes 25minutes to make will take like 12 in hybrid.

Jobs Tab

This here is the jobs tab. It tells you what job is running and if it crashed or not.

I'm Showing this tab 2nd so you can Abort/Stop a job.
It happens to me to often, I start a job and remember that i forgot to click a setting or hybrid crashes, I'll stop the job go through the settings unchecking filters to see whats causing the crash.
Then i go back to the base tab and click on the shoveling man to retart the job.
Honestly when hybrid fucks up you're just gonna want to stop the job and delete everything on the list to start fresh. Doing this won't delete your settings it will just completely stop the job in progress.

Config Tab

This is self explanatory.

I've focused on the Config/Path tab because once you know what settings you like in all the tabs you go into the config tab and click save Your settings and it'll save all your settings as default
hybrid stores temp files in your win10 default temp directory but it'll leave behind huge temp files sometimes so i set my temp directory in my download folder so i can go in and delete all the temp files manually.
All the other sub tabs like "Automation/Input/Containers/etc" you'll never mess with.

Here One of the important tabs the container tab.

I'll start off by saying you're going to stay in the x264/Base tab. Unless you're some video expert you should not go into the other sub tabs like "Frames/Ratecontrol/MotionEstimation/Quantization/Zones/Vui/MIsc"

See where it says Restriction settings? Do you see the big orange "Don't Touch" marking i made? Its all set up for you. AVC profile should be High 4.1/4.2. 1080p videos can be saved as 5.1/5.2. What does all this do? Here's a wikipedia page for you to read through if you want to play around with the settings

All you should know is that anything above High and 4.2 is for professionals or geeks.

See where it ways profile & Presets? Just use the same settings i told you about in staxrip which are VeryFast/Grain. You'll have to click the little white arrow buttons to activate them though.

See general Settings? Its marked with a big orange "FILE SIZE". Here you choose how the video is encoded and the bitrate. Just like with Staxrip, I make huge QTGMC files so i'll just make a 15mb/s QTGMC that i'm going to delete after i upscale.
You don't have to do this you can make a nice tight 5mb/s QTGMC file like everybody else does, but i don't save my QTGMC files. I delete them after i'm done with them.

You can geek out here all you want. Go to video forums and read up on different encoding methods.
Just know that now matter what type of video you make, Topaz is going to make a huge 1080p upscale video so it doesn't really matter how you encode it.

Also remember i'm not a pro. I do this for shits and giggles. Anybody else that does video editing and reads what i just posted will call me a retard. They would be right. I'm just giving you the basics so you can play with hybrid.

Also remember that you're upscaling Porn you're not trying to remaster Raiders of the lost Ark.

I'll try to make a tutorial tomorrow about cropping and resizing and the Filters/QTGMC settings.

Before I get too far into this, could someone in the know please tell me if my computer specs are too old to handle this sort of load to upscale standard DVD 576p content please?

These are my computer specs:

If that's too old/slow, then that's fine. Just looking for an idea before I waste a lot of time and effort only to find out I haven't got the hardware to cope with it.
