Trying not to get too excited. I have been watching and getting my heart broken since the '84 team. Plus this is a year early in terms of when they were supposed to win. However, I really don't see any of the remaining teams as something to be scared of. This Cub team just doesn't give a crap about pressure or curses or past team baggage. They are a bunch of loose playing youngsters smacking the ball around and pitching like they know they are going to win. Joe Maddon has a ton to do with that, as does the make-up of the team. They even have a stacked farm system. This is just the beginning. No more lovable losers.

I'm excited, not cause my wife's strokin me. Been waitin forever for this, and I'm tired of all my little punk employees braggin about the Cardinals. Seems like everyone around me is a Cardinals fan, I basically live right in between both teams cities.
Now I've got the big swinging cojones. |

and the devil is shopping for sweaters.....
My early trust in Theo Epstein and what his long-term vision entailed starting in 2011 is being rewarded as my beloved Cubbies appear to be on the brink of executing the intended plan: being contenders each year. With even more talent still in the minors I can finally say that this year is the start of something special in the short and/or long term. Go Cubs Go!

Maybe next year, hell of a season though. Like Cal was saying, the Mets pitching was just too solid. And the Cubs pitching just couldn't hold it down. The Mets really played very well.
Cubs fan here, win or lose. |

New MLB Rule Re. Angels' Shohei Ohtani and Dual Positions
Quote:
IMO, a silly rule that someone is going to use as precedent. What's to stop a good-hitting pitcher (Madison Bumgartner comes to mind) from remaining on a roster in a pinch-hitting capacity? Would this have applied to former Cardinal Rick Ankiel? What about Dodgers catcher Russell Martin this past year (4 scoreless innings in 4 apearances)? Your thoughts? |

Quick note to mods... if you need/want to re-title the thread "MLB Discussion" or "MLB 2019 Discussion", that's okay with me... did not see a thread title re. general (non-year specific) MLB discussion.
