Help! New Win10 User
So I bought a new laptop and finally received it today (Windows 10) , my excitement turned quickly to frustration when I could not install a new browser!
This is what I get when I try to install Firefox as administrator: I have absolutely no experience with Windows 10 and it seems different in many ways to past versions. |

Thanks SD,
I have never had to ask permission from MS then jump through hoops to do a simple task. I have been using Windows for 20+ years and suddenly I feel like a complete 'puter noob... thanks Microsoft. |

It's kinda frustrating at times, specially at the very beginning. But once you get the hang out of most security options, you're good to go. I highly recommend getting also either ClassicShell or OpenShell, to have most of the OS functions, such as the Control Panel, cmd and whatnot at hand.

First thing I noticed was the absence of a Control Panel. |

My Win 10 has a Control Panel.
If you open a File Explorer window and type "control panel" in the location bar, then hit enter, it should pop up.

Once you locate the Control Panel, "Pin it" to the start menu. I find that helps.

Removing 'S-mode' is a one time deal, you can't 'switch it back on.' It's not Microsoft's fault that your laptop manufacturer supplied you with this, it's only available to manufacturers, and as a general rule most of them (such as Dell) only install it on PCs meant for organisations who need Admin privileges limited.

Also cheaper laptops sometimes also include Windows in S mode, and as gwynd said its a one time (free) exit and I don't feel there's a need to go back, as S mode is quite restrictive.
