If the Canadiens make it past Vegas I might cheer for them as much as it pains me.

The Blue Jays beat up on the Red Sox 18-4 yesterday including 8 homers.

The Boston Bruins had just beaten the Vancouver Canucks to win the Stanley Cup. Vancouver turned into a warzone with unruly idiot rioters.

It takes a lot for me to say something nice about the Montreal Canadiens but Carey Price stood on his head tonight on a well earned 3-2 win for the split in Vegas.

Next 2 in Montreal...

The Lightning and Islanders are square at 1 each going into New York tomorrow.

Time to watch some more of the crying game during the day tomorrow while waiting for hockey to come on lol.

2021 Stanley Cup Final Preview: Canadiens vs. Lightning

Normally around this time of year we’d be consumed with draft talk and trade speculation with free agency on the horizon. This year it’s even better: we have a Stanley Cup Final still to look forward to.

Beginning with Game 1 in Tampa Bay, the Lightning are back for the second year in a row and eyeing a defence of their title won in an Edmonton bubble last September. Now they have a chance to win in front of their home fans, with 14,800 allowed in Amalie Arena last round.

The series will shift in Game 3 to la belle province, the first time in 28 years the all-time winningest NHL franchise will host a Stanley Cup Final game. It’s the longest the Montreal Canadiens have been between finals appearances in their history and their fans are starting to get 1993 vibes through this underdog run.

Everything is on the line now with the Lightning and Canadiens just four wins away from glory. Here’s how the teams match up.

The 2021 Womens Hockey World Championship starts Friday August 20th and runs to August 31st. All games will be contested in Calgary, Alberta, Canada

I have been appointed Ombudsperson for this tournament and I wish all teams luck and safe health.

Things started out well enough for Switzerland(SUI) who took a 1-0 lead in to the dressing room after 1, until Russia(ROC) scored twice in the span of 14 seconds in the 2nd period.

The referees made it all about them in the Denmark vs Japan game as each team saw 14 minutes in penalties. Sounds like someone I know lol.

Hungary stuck right in there against Germany considering this had the makings of a slaughter

And if you are wondering how I get ROC out of Russia, it stands for Russian Olympic Committee and they play under a neutral flag which allows their drug-free athletes to participate in international sport.

Congrats to Andre De Grasse of Canada for beating 5 Americans to take gold yesterday in Eugene Oregon in the hundred metre dash as part of the Diamond League circuit. The athletes were very thankful to see fans back in the stands to cheer them on in their first stop after the Tokyo Olympics and on that note the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics start Tuesday

The Czechs went up 4-0 before Hungary got the memo that they were in a hockey game lol.

Russia scored their lone goal with one second left in the game to spoil Canada's shutout. Russia's goalie got peppered with 40+ shots and their goalie was chased late in the second. The final shot count was 62 to 7 for Canada

As a goalie I can identify with the Russian goalie. I will use the first two periods as an example take a look at the difference in the amount of shots and the positioning of the shots Canada never let serious shots from in the slot where is if you look on the Russian end it looks like a traffic jam lol

Canada skated Team ROC into the ice tonight in Calgary, pouring shots and great chances on two goalies before coming away with an impressive 5-1 win.

Coming into the game Canada had won all previous 11 meetings between the teams in World Women’s play by a cumulative score of 88-7, and Russia had never scored more than a single goal in any one game. Canada's smallest margin of victory in those games was four goals.

The start of the game belied those numbers, though. Coach Yevgeni Bobariko’s team played close to the Canadians, kept them to the outside, and surrendered little ice. But as the period wore on, Canada’s relentless skating took its toll on the ROC skaters, leaving goalie Nadezhda Morozova to fend for herself on several occasions.

The 24-year-old goalie was nothing short of sensational, and even though her team was outshot 16-3 in the opening period, she stopped each and every one of those shots. In the last half of the period, several were gorgeous scoring chances. She stopped captain Marie-Philip Poulin from in close, then a chance from Brianne Jenner who was alone at the top of the crease. And soon after Melodie Daoust, whose shot from close range was also stopped by Morozova.

The longer the game remained scoreless, the happier the ROC team was, but it seemed only a matter of time before Canada would break through. At first, it didn’t seem so. “Moro-save-a” robbed Spooner and Daoust from point-blank range to start the second, but the Canadians kept rolling their lines over and swarming the ROC goal.

Finally, a breakthrough. Sarah Filler, the hero of the team’s opening 5-3 win over Finland, got a loose puck in her end and skated down the left side on a three-on-one. She held onto the puck and fired to the low side, finally beating Morozova at 7:29 and giving her team a sense of relief.

Less than two minutes later, Canada scored again when Jenner made a sensational cross-ice pass in the ROC end to find Ella Shelton, a Clarkson grad making her debut with Team Canada. She rifled a shot over Morozova’s glove

Then, at 13:48, Canada put the game out of reach. Erin Ambrose’s long shot through traffic hit a ROC stick in front and bobbled into the goal, and that spelled the end for Morozova, not because she was at fault for the 3-0 deficit but because Bobariko wanted to save her. She had already fielded 34 shots.

Canada added a fourth goal early in the third when incoming goalie Anna Prugova failed to close her glove on a Spooner wraparound, and Daoust swopped in and shoved the puck over the line.

Emily Clark made it 5-0 at 14:09 after another long period of sustained pressure. Her wrist shot beat Prugova between the pads. Soon after, Victoria Bach snapped a loose puck into the open side to add to the tally, but the goal was called back after a ROC challenge on a possible offside. Video review confirmed the violation and the goal was disallowed.

Olga Sosina added ROC’s consolation goal on a power play with 1.3 seconds left in the game.

Both teams have a day off before playing on Tuesday. ROC will take on the U.S. to open the day’s program, after which Canada will face Switzerland.
