Video player on Safari (iPad) is unusable!
Help, please! I can’t watch videos on evil angel’s site on my iPad because the ability to skip ahead doesn’t work. I tap a point in the video bar, and it just skips right ahead to another point, or, sometimes, right to the end. I’ve tried to hold my finger down and drag along but this doesn’t work either. The video player is awful. What I don’t understand is, when I use chrome instead of safari, it still uses the same player, however some other sites, in safari, seem to use a different player. Can’t I ensure some way to use the same, more usable, player, each time?

Can you even change the default video player on iPad? I thought that option was removed.

By default, all iPads/iPhones use the same video player in all browsers, which is a watered down version of QuickTime, and which doesn't even support the HTML5 standard anyway. There's no way to change the default player, as it's all built into iOS. I can't even watch Youtube, decently, on my iPad, without the App. Let alone Tube sites. That's a limitation of most iPads/iPhones, unfortunately. How about downloading the videos from the site and sync them with iTunes?

By default, iOS uses an old shitty version of QuickTime, which doesn't even support the HTML5 standard. Unless you Jailbreak the thing, and install a player like KODI or some other one, you are stuck with what Apple offers.

It's a 9.7 inch iPad from 2018, it's updated to the latest IOS. I read you can't change the default video player but for some reason when I watch tube sites like PH or N00dlem@gaz!ne the skip function on the player works fine: I press where I want to skip to, and it does. But then if I watch videos on the official evil@ngel site, the player becomes unusable and pressing a point to skip to invariably makes the whole video skip to the end. Weird since its obviously the same player but behaves differently.

With Youtube or PH there's no problem, as most videos get decoded as H264 by the iPad. But with paysites that use proprietary coding for their streaming platforms, it's a different story. It's like with Flash videos, back when the iPhone was introduced. You couldn't watch a single thing that had Flash Animations or videos on it. It's a "limitation" of iOS, unfortunately. If you can download the videos, sync them with iTunes and watch them with the video player of your choice.
