Some, might want to experience with their sexuality, and in some cases, the "experts" were "easier" to find through porn (BDSM rigging, organizing gang bangs, and things like that...). But I suspect those are few.

I would say the vast majority don't mind getting paid to perform sex acts on camera for the public to see. They are probably okay with being a sex worker as a job. They are most likely comfortable enough with their bodies to be naked and be sexual.

I think they do it for the false sense of financial security and fame. By the time they realize porn isn't what they thought, they'd already walked through that door, and after they do that, many other doors close to them forever.
