My Visa was cancelled yesterday by my Bank's Fraud Dept.

Sure enough, there were illegal Skype charges on it. I only use this card for Clips4Sale, RG and K2S. C4S swears it can't be them and I'm inclined to believe them.That leaves K2s and RG. Anybody else get hit on a card they use for RG or K2S?

I'm certainly not going to give them new cards either till I can figure it out.

My bank seems to be blocking me from RG subscriptions. I go to use my CC and the payment is declined even thougjh there is money to cover the membership in my acct. Been trying for weeks.

This is why I won't use them, I'd buy a PaySafe card from the news stand but I won't give them credit card details.

It's better to use a prepaid card or a gift card with small amount on it.

When it is said "Fraudulent activity", what does it mean exactly, that people at those hosting companies (or men in the middle) have tried to get more money from your CC ? Or does it mean something else ? Please explain. What did your bank exactly state about it ?

It means someone got hold of the card # and verification code, ran a $0 test to see if it was good, then started using it for Skype. The Bank's fraud sw caught it before I did.

that kind of fraud happens every day, everywhere, for some it becomes a full time job.

In order to avoid those bad surprises, people should use those prepaid cards, or gift cards.

The advantages are obvious :

-They just work as normal credit cards
-They are not linked to your bank account (unless you decide to fuel it from there, but better to avoid)
-The amount of the credit can be small, very small.
-The cards are "anonymous", does not need to provide your real name when you buy or subscribe to something.
-If the worst happens, you will not lose huge amounts and all the consequences it means.

Most of the major credits cards companies have their prepaid and gift cards (Visa, MasterCard, etc), but there are smaller companies too.

Internet Technologies are human made, that's why they are full of flaws. The suggested methods will not prevent bad guys from hacking again, but it may reduce their profit, and your troubles.

Better safe than sorry.

I have used RG for years with no issues BUT that doesn't mean it cant and wont happen to you. I have a dedicated Internet Only card for these type of purchases with a VERY low limit.
