Today I turned on the computer, tried to download a file, and was told that I was locked out for an hour. An hour passes, and I reenter the CAPTCHA, and I was told again to wait another hour. I hope this website isn't jerking me around here and trying to unethically prod me into going premium by "changing the goalposts" so to speak.

Ultramegabit is unusual in that it "only" permits five downloads per 24 hours, or 10 downloads if you're a registered user. It moves at a decent speed, and would otherwise be reasonably satisfied were it not with this hiccup with downloading today.

Last time I had serious issues with a captcha it turned out to be no script was keeping it from running properly.

Its easy to also assume if your regions free user allocation is gone its a delaying tactic...heavy traffic periods will do that

Donwloading at 20-30KB says their experiencing heavy traffic at least in my neck of the woods

That was with ad-block plus and no script in Pale Moon browser turned off

I'm not that impressed with UMB, yes they have good upload speeds but if you can only download 10 times a day then it's going to be a bit of a problem if you're a big uploader.

It seems like all file sharing sites have these issues. I haven't noticed these in particular with UMB (I guess I just haven't come across enough links to DL more than 3-4 in a day) but typically, I just wait a day or two and reboot my browser. I guess it's a pain, but then think about what the real complaint is for a second and the anger and pain subsides pretty quickly.

Downloaded three UMB files from three different users yesterday. The files, when finished, instead of having a designation of Zip or Rar they were marked as just a plain old "File". I can rename the files to Zip or Rar and can open them, so it's not a major issue just an annoyance.

Downloaded one today, same "File" designation. Running Chrome with a few extensions for blocking ads and pops. I allow Java and Cookies for UMB otherwise you can't access the timer and captcha, but do not allow plug-ins. Since I'm no expert in any thing software or html, wondering if someone else has or is having a similar issue.

To be honest, I have UMB premium, so I honestly wasn't aware of any of these issues. Definitely worth being looked into.

I like UMB mostly as of the unrestrict.li feature If you have a registered free account @ unrestrict.li, you can download from several OCHs for free up to 10 GB a day ... and UMB is one of those hosts
Reg Users are limited to 1 mb/s download speed, and you can only use 1 download per time, but no waiting period afterwards.
Or you upgrade your acc to VIP, got additional approx 20 one click hosters, you can download up to 75 GB a day with maximum speed ... for only 4,99 € (6,40 $) = 30 days.

EDIT: Just noticed UMB is down @ unrestrict, but should be available again tomorrow i think.

I'm getting the same thing. Was expecting a normal RAR file, but instead I got "a9bec17c-11a0-42d0-9583-01ac755a07c6" Twice now. Using a prem acct, btw.

If the poster doesn't care or doesn't check or simply has fully automated his posts then the downloader gets such a garbled name. That's not a UMB issue in the first place, but they have probably several remote uploading options. Maybe the coding of the remote options is not the best.

Here's another issue, cropped up this morning (again, using Chrome): This page includes script from unauthenticated sources.

The captcha will not appear unless you allow the script. The countdown timer does appear, and works, but redirects you to a "Recaptcha field required" page and then loops back to the original UMB link . To be safe, I used a backup laptop and allowed the "Load unsafe script" and the content downloaded seemingly with no repercussions.

If it's the uploaders issue, guess my options are to politely ask the content poster to pay more attention to his links or otherwise, avoid the dude altogether.
