One thing that is holding me back when down loading is the sheer size of many of the latest files. They are getting up near 1 gig and that blows my daily data cap.

So I have to decide - do I want 5 small 200 meg files, 2 400 meg files or 1 1 gig file (that may crap out on me half way through!)

Hopefully some people may re-do these larger files at a lower res to help those of us with lower speeds and data caps.

I may have to move to South Korea, where they have very fast broadband.

1 GB data cap per day? Wow, that sucks! My data cap is for a month at 200 GB! I hate lower resolution vids myself, so I find myself usually downloading ~ 1 GB to over that most often.

I still find the SD forum was busier than the HD one, so were you not able to find stuff there?

i don't mind having medium res files, so thats what I usually download. stuff that is like 624x352 or 768x432 are fine with me. if it gets too small i don't like it though, 320x180 or something like that.

I'd prefer two 400MB files. My connection is fast, but not always stable, so I generally look for a middle point. 900GB files are a pain in the ass.

It just depends. Some files can be SD and look nice and clear, whereas other look like shit no matter what. I'm lucky I guess to have such a great broadband connection. I can DL files from certain sites at well over 2 MB/sec, but most hosts won't support that. My connection is rated at around 18 Mbps, yet unless I'm on a site like microsoft or a place with a good backbone, then my DL speeds are in the 200 to 300 KB/sec. Doesn't really pay to have a super fast connection since most places don't host fast speeds back in your direction.

I prefer the 200mb-400mb parts. I've often downloaded wrestling videos that have 200mb parts. While it all depends on the internet speed, I have a better chance of downloading those parts than a 1GB file. Anything above that is risky, especially when downloading from sites like Oron. It's always quicker to download things in multiple parts. From my IDM using, it's like one part is broken down into mini parts, with each mini part downloaded, and combined in the end. Depending on the site, it ranges from ok speed, to fantastic speed. My internet connection is supposedly 5Mbps. The most I've gotten, from a site with great download speeds like Mediafire, 900kb/s.

While I still remember this, I once downloaded a 1GB rar file. It took about 30+ minutes. Other files of similar size, from the same website, would be longer, depends on the connection, as it can be inconsistent sometimes. Now, it turned out that that 1GB rar file was broken or something. Same video I'm trying to download, in multiple .rar parts. Took about 15-20 minutes. So I go for parts. It all depends on the site though. Depositfiles gives me nice speed, but the waiting times vary based on size of file downloaded. The bigger the size, longer the wait. Other sites have an even waiting period, regardless of file size. I'd rather download smaller files from the sites like Depositfiles. For those other sites with equal waiting times (I think Oron classifies, just downloading my first file from there in a long time), I could risk bigger file downloading. However, just simply falls under the site and the internet speed. In the case of Oron, no stopping of downloads from their part or my connection's part. Except one time, which was today as a matter of fact.

Bottom line, I favor between 200MB-400MB parts.

400-500mb is ideal, like nirado said some of the splits are ridiculous. A 715MB file split into two parts (700 & 15 Mb). Dont see the reason at all.
