......Then I guess u havent seen the HEVC codec in action. The HEVC codec is a profession codec dude....Ur loss I guess.

Keeping there huge 1080p files is no longer necessary, this is my point. Smaller size=less ULing=more content=everyone happy!

That is a MAJOR understatement. When the x265 encoder first became available I tried encoding a 35 minute 1080p video. It took over 21 hours to complete, and that's with a Core i7-3610QM 2.3GHz CPU. Sure, I could probably have shaved maybe an hour or two off that time by using the worst possible encoding settings rather than the best, but that is still a very long time.

The average uploader here could easily upload 5 - 10 HD 720p videos or 20 - 30 SD videos in the time it took me to encode that single video. The bottom line is even the few people who already upload 1080p scenes are not going to waste time transcoding their videos just to get a smaller file to upload.

Now you could argue that as all the currently available HEVC encoders are still new there is still time for them to be optimised to improve their performance. But in the case of the x265 encoder, the people behind it are not the same team that produced the x264 encoder (which was head and shoulders above every other AVC encoder due to their optimisation efforts) so I have no confidence that x265 will improve significantly in the future.

Your only hope of getting what you want is if the paysites themselves start encoding their videos with HEVC. But that looks highly unlikely to ever happen now, given the licensing shenanigans around HEVC.

The funny thing is the issue is file size. If a file is shurnk to quite a small size say 1-300MB doesnt that also cut down on the amount of time encoding? Ive encoded whole TV seasons with HEVC and the ep lenghts were not much more or less then ur avg porn scene these days (22-25mins)

I get amazing great HD 1080p quality shrinking with HEVC, a 1GB file down to 175MB....was quite happy with the results.

Just a side note ULers.....u may want to consider trying to get used to the HEVC, if u can it means smaller file sizes for everyone! Less bandwidth used DLing too.

There is now really no excuse for not encoding in 1080p anymore with this HEVC codec now. U can shrink size and still amazing full HD quality (looks great for porn (ive seen it) haha)

Been away a few days and just saw this now, I've started using the latest handbrake version a little over a month ago as a test. 1280 x 720 files shrink down quite a bit and for a 2.5 to 3 GB file it takes close to a half hour. A 1920 x 1080 video takes longer than that and the file size barely changed for what I tried, I'll try a few more but don't see it helping me too much.
