VirtualDUB can't split BASE timing(AVI) ?
Hi guys ^^ I'm having a new problem with VirtualDUB. Well, it can be simple or not, I don't know, but the problem here is when I try to split my video. For some reason sometimes I can't split with accuracy, for example: I'm trying to split 02:17:24(base) ~ 03:04:27(end) of a video, but the VirtualDUB can't do it! It split around 02:14:xx and not exactly 02:17:24! I can't get it working perfectly. However, when I try to split another timings, it works perfectly. I need to crop it perfectly because I'm working with a fade in/out effect with the vid. Any help?

Could be codec related, I've had inaccurate split times in different applications when using certain codecs.

Sometimes VirtualDub has a hard time with the synchromization of some audio formats with certain video formats. Try to first convert the video to Xvid with uncompressed audio. That seems to work best for me...

check this thread. If you've been working with 'direct stream copy' then DiamondHead's explanations may address it. There's another thread out there about this but couldn't turn it up.

In my experience with Virtualdub, the beginning point of the split can only be at specific keyframes. The end can be anywhere you want it, but the beginning will always revert backwards to the nearest keyframe. That's just how the program works I don't think there's a way around it.

yeah you have to use keyframes for start, but you could use all frames as end frame, and no , the is not wa around it, the same is with all formats (only mpeg1/2 works differently) so unles you want to reencode there is no way to be presice.

You will have to re-encode it if you want it to be very specific, otherwise it will revert to the nearest keyframe.

Generally speaking VirtualDub will only split on keyframes, however there is a way around this as explained in this post.
Note - you will have to use VirtualDub 1.9.11 which has the "smart rendering" feature. Hope that helps. |
