After nearly being paralyzed by a neck injury, Austin made one of the greatest comebacks in WWE history. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009.

It was OK, probably helps that Austin is a kinda laid back likeable guy in real life. It had recent stuff with Austin, Foley, Rock among others but I don't think any of these A&E bios, this was the first of 8 with Piper's next week, are going to have a lot of things that are big reveals if you've been looking for them.

The plus side is, for better or worse, it was clearly done with WWE's blessing so they had access to their video archive for showing stuff like the Stunning Steve run from WCW and the one promo they talk about from ECW. It did show the piledriver from Owen that injured him on so, be warned if you don't want to see that again.

The Hidden Treasures thing they had on after is in the same vein, they have some recruit tag along with a legend, Foley this week Taker and Kane next week, looking for stuff from their careers that the WWE archive doesn't have. Along the way they talked about Foley's career, splicing in relevant footage as appropriate. Of course, they show Foley getting thrown off the Cell.

From the first few minutes I think the long-term play from Trips is to make an actual museum for people to visit and see this stuff alongside the stuff the archive already has. But I don't recall them ever announcing such a project yet or if maybe it got delayed because of the pandemic.

John Cone - Senior Manager of Talent Relations (remains employed by the WWE as a referee)

Update: At least one of the above (indications are it was Carrano) was fired for what is now being called "The Trash Bag Incident". Apparently, Mickie James, being recently released, had her belongings delivered to her front doorstep in a trash bag. Ex-WWE star Gail Kim says this has been happening for years, and ex-WWE Dive Maria Kanellis stated she got the trash bag treatment after her departure last year.

James posted about this on Instagram, mockingly thanking the WWE for their "care package". Both Triple-H and Stephanie McMahon quickly publicly apologized to James, and told her the responsible party has been fired.

Mead Rust - VP of Communications
Brian Flinn - Chief Marketing and Communications Officer
Joe Villa - Publicity and Corporate Communications Manager
Dan Engler (aka Rudy Charles) - Senior Manager of Talent Relations (however, he maintains employment with the WWE as a referee under the "Rudy Charles" name.)

Also, John Cone, fired earlier, was reinstated as a Senior Manager of Talent Relations on Friday. The combination of his (now verified) non-involvement in "The Trash Bag Incident" (Mark Carrano is seemingly taking all the heat for it), along with some powerful public testimonials (notably from Mick Foley), likely was responsible for the change of heart by the McMahons.

Am watching the Shawn Michaels episode of A&E's Biography, and just saw the part about him being attacked in Syracuse after a show in 1995 (I was not there that night). For the record, I live in Central New York area and am very familiar with Club 37, in North Syracuse, as spent many nights there (not during the disco years). By 1995, it was a shell of its former self, having transformed from a five-nights-a-week disco club in the late seventies to a three-night-a-week rock club that lost money in its latter years, as dance clubs became passé. (It closed in the late nineties and as recently as 2018, the property was still for sale with vegetation continuing to overgrow the building.) I knew much of the staff there, including the DJ (a former roommate) and long-time head bouncer, affectionately known as "Bigfoot".

People in the A&E episode talk about Shawn being attacked by either six or nine servicemen... it was three. Here is the definitive (and rather detailed) story.

WWE has come to terms on the releases of Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Murphy, Ruby Riott and Santana Garrett.

The first two are rather surprising, wonder if it makes Zelina change her mind. Ruby makes me wonder if Liv is in danger as well.

Interesting note... Thomas Hall at wrestlingrumors.net says this (bold added for emphasis):

I’m actually kind of stunned by this whole thing as this is not something you ever seen. This is a lot different than wrestlers who are never on television being let go. Strowman won the Universal Title last year at WrestleMania and just challenged for the WWE Title on pay per view last month. Black was just put into a feud with Big E. and Lana is a featured player on Monday Night Raw. There seems to be something going on and I’m not sure what it is.

Strowman is the real surprise here (AEW will likely sign him), so it'll be an interesting few days as this shakes out...
