Energy drink containing Viagra banned

The days of the energy drink craze may be behind us but sugary, vitamin-packed beverages are still pretty popular. In Zambia, Africa, one popular energy drink was packing a bit too much of a punch and regulators have now banned it. The drink wasn’t overloaded with caffeine or B vitamins, but was instead hiding a secret ingredient: Viagra.

As Reuters reports, the drink known as Power Natural High Energy Drink SX began having unexpected reactions to the beverage, prompting further investigation and testing. Ultimately, the drink was found to contain the erectile dysfunction drug sildenafil citrate, which is sold under the brand name Viagra.

The energy drink, which is sold in Zambia and several other African countries including Zimbabwe and Uganda, caught the eye of the Uganda National Drug Authority after one consumer revealed the beverage gave him an erection that lasted nearly six hours. Testing confirmed the presence of the drug in the drink and Zambia has since banned the manufacture from producing it.

The company is now prohibited from making the energy drink until it proves it has addressed the problem and has quality control to ensure it won’t happen again.

Sildenafil citrate is a prescription drug that carries some pretty serious risks and potential side effects. Many of the warnings associated with the drug focus on heart health, and it’s recommended that an individual be screened for heart abnormalities before taking it. It can also affect hearing and vision in some individuals.

It’s unclear at this point whether the manufacturer of the energy drink knew the drug was present, but the “SX” at the end of the product’s name offers a hint. In any case, the company won’t be making any more erection-boosting beverages anytime soon.

In Africa they have been producing, consuming and even exporting to the USA, Yohimbe (a very powerful natural stimulant, similar to caffeine but much more potent, for treating erection problems and lack of desire) for centuries/decades, now.
It was, way before the FDA decided to put it in the controlled substances list, a very used compound (Yohimbe Bark Extract, specially) in so-called OTC natural sperm-libido enhancement pills (Google Yohimbe/G0li4th L4bs FDA) But, since many people that consumed Yohimbe had extremely adverse side-effects, it is now a prescription-only drug.
I don't know if even in Africa, now, Yohimbe has become a controlled substance or not. But all I know is that it is much more dangerous than Viagra.
For the rest, I haven't drank an energy drink since decades, now. I'm not even drinking coffee anymore.
But I found that pure tap water with slices of fresh lemons it's a very good substitute to 7Up or Gatorade.
At least i'm not drinking aspartame and other additives, which cause health problems in the long-term
Stick to homemade drinks, gentlemen. And avoid processed chemical junk, if you wanna be safe and healthy

They did this because many men were buying the drug on the streets, or in unlicensed online pharmacies, and very often they were sold counterfeit copies that presented a health hazard.

The UK has always definitely got it right in almost anything, and has always been thinking ahead, unlike some other EU countries.
They even have needle rooms ran by medical staff where they give Heroin addicts pharmaceutical-grade Diamorphine and psychological and social help, in order to make them return to be valuable workers and people and to fight the illegal system.
The UK definitely do care about their citizens well being. No wonder they would come up with something like that.

I can see some real problems with the product being sold as a energy drink.
Imagine you just wanted a pick me up on the way to doing a presentation, or your first autopsy as a student doctor, or on the way to testify in a sexual harassment lawsuit....

I had no idea that there were such drinks that contained viagra 0_0 Did they really work? I'm just interested. If they hadn't banned it I think I would have bought it instead of pills. To be honest I hate swallowing pills so that's why I usually take jelly medicines.

If they actually do contain it, then yes: ot terms of gaining and maintaining an erection, but the caffeine and sugar contained in the actual energy drink side of things does not.

Also, viagra should really only be taken by people who have erectile disorders, and not by those who want to achieve a 'better performance' in bed.

It works by dilating blood vessels, so that more blood reaches the penis allowing it to engorge and achieve an erection, but it also does the same to all other parts of the body that are affected by blood flow, so it could spell out problems for those with pre-existing heart conditions and could also leat to brain haemorrhages and stokes.

So best not to mix it with caffeine.

They give you a burst of energy but they wont stop you (as a male) ejaculating sooner. They will help you go longer if you get tired during sex easy but if you crash during sex it will hit you quite hard.
