Companies need to grow for several reasons. One of the most important being the need to have more sway with politicians of all nations. In the pandemic era, the bigger companies will be fine, so it's no secret where the money might be going. It's impossible to talk about the economy without saying something about politics. Talking politics inevitably leads to arguments, so I understand why we are not allowed to on here.

Conspiracy theories are fun, and most are pretty harmless. But, as we have seen with Covid 19, such theories can be deadly. If you are looking for something, chances are you will find it if you look hard enough.

On topic I'd imagine if there was a competent forward-thinking (or any thinking) administration that gave COVID and the economy the attention it deserves without acting (simply acting doesn't always require thought) to line their own pockets (no offense intended towards Pockets the poster) we might already have been well on our way to recovery instead of shrinkage.

Speaking of which the wealthiest people and corporations profited close to $600b from the pandemic.

Fall in Gross Domestic Product is a worldwide issue, and as such the USA is not exempt and is indeed one of the many countries affected.

We are living through hard times, and prospects for the future aren't looking good right now: I just hope the world economy doesn't enter a financial depression.

I have always felt that the state of the economy is of global concern, which is why I advocate tacking this problem as a single world issue, and not as something where each nation does it's own thing.

Obviously this utopia is a pipe dream right now, but I hope that in the future people will see sense, even if by then I will have died of old age.

Locking down for this long in the US has been a disaster. Two weeks was fine. The hospitals did not get overrun. Could have just focused on the at risk population in the country, mainly the elderly and those with immune system issues. Get them all setup with high quality surgical masks and let them quarantine if they feel it is the safest option. Make sure the nursing homes have all precautions in place, and then let the rest of the damn country go back to work. Then you don't have to piss away money on a stimulus bill.

This has become a political issue first and foremost and people are suffering because of it.

The company I work for got one of those "Grants" and 80% of it has to go to payroll. So basically a bunch of temp workers got hired because they had to spend x amount on employees. It wasn't just a bunch of free money they could pocket.
