Hey Folks.....
I come humbly seeking your wisdom regarding transferring old applicaationss from
a Ibook G4 to a newer Mac. I've got about $5000 in Adobe software as well as music apps I love.... A tech I talked to at a used computer store mentioned an app or
helper called Rosetta. Your wisdom on this topic would be greatly appreciated

Hi toobboy,

I am assuming that your Ibook G4 is as PowerPC machine, and your newer Mac is Intel based.

If this is the case, is the new machine running Snow Leopard?

If yes, there is the opportunity of installing Rosetta from the system install disk that came with your new machine: open the DVD in finder and double-click on optional installs->optional installs.mpkg. follow the instructions and on the screen with the choice of things to install choose Rosetta.

Be sure to install Rosetta when installing your new MAC OS (Snow Leopard). After finishing the install update Snow Leopard to the latest AND update all of your existing programs. Last and most important-Restart and your good to go.
