Lately, I am having problems with the current Windows 10 Image Viewer stalling (in opening the image) and, or not opening an image from a file or .rar., when I click on it. I've had this problem opening images either from the computer or several of my WD external HD's. (2 TB capacity, each about 1/2 capacity used). I have Windows 10 running on a Dell XPS desktop. the Capacity of the computer drive is 929 GB. My free space is listed currently at 541 GB and the used space is at 388 GB.
Any suggestions?

I would suggest IrfanView (freeware), it can handle any size photo. The program also does a lot more than just viewing images.

The built in image viewer in Windows 10 is worse than in Windows XP. I have all kinds of problems with it.

How big is the RAR file? Actually more accurate, how many images are in it?

Because in order to view a single file inside the RAR, Windows extracts ALL of the files. If you want to quickly view a file, extract the files from the RAR first.

Image size will vary from a small image from 15 years ago to HQ images 1.5mb & up thru 3 mb. Size 2490 X 3746 & upwards, again, depending on the quality of the camera used to shot the model.

Yes, I do extract the whole group of files and then start to view them. Sometimes I can't get the image to open within the file. Other times, I don't have a problem. this has been going on a couple of months, now.

Started recently, so it's probably due to an update.
Doesn't recognize images that it did before.
Images taking too long to open.
Typical Windows 10 bullshit.
I just backdoor installed Photosuite 95 into it, and it works, so fuck it.
Also, I can still use my XP machine for editing images.

Yes, I too, felt it was some un-wanted update. Maybe something that is hogging the memory. I'm not experienced enough with Windows to dive into it real deep. The "old" image viewer was better, but I'm afraid to fuck with the registry, to try & install it. Thanks - good to know I'm not alone.
