I'm wondering if VR is worth it for porn. I've never tried VR for any type of content, but I just read on a gaming site where a gamer said that he has VR and somehow got it to render an old late '90s game (Unreal 1) and said it was awesome and he could never play the game on a flatscreen again: http://unrealsp.org/viewtopic.php?p=76628#p76644 .

And if it is good for porn, I've got another problem. I'm extremely picky about the positions I like to see the women take during a scene. I won't bother going into details as tastes vary, but suffice it to say that I'm so picky about this issue that I use a video-editing program to cut most of the parts so that I'm left only with the stuff I like. On average, I end up with about 3 minutes from an original 20-minute clip.

So being able to edit my porn is so important that if I can't edit the stuff, I won't bother with it. Therefore, if VR porn does offer a significantly better experience, is it also editable by a home user? If so, I'm assuming special software is necessary?

For now, VR porn is a gimmick.

I'm sure that one day it will be a good thing, but for now it is a way for dodgy people to try and separate you from your cash.

Best thing is to wait until this technology has been tried and tested, and that the porn industry is releasing plenty of material that is able to fully take advantage of this technology.

If they can, they will...

.....And have you seen the gigs required for quality VR. Insane! I saw an 11 gig file a day or two ago, one freaking video. Count the ways that is a problem. I don't have a data cap but I still keep an eye on my data usage.... And of course after downloading the 11 gigs I realize it's not to my taste; and what a waste!

I can't really say much as I've never tried VR. Main reason for that is I'm not prepared to strap a whacking great piece of gear to my head just to watch porn.

As for editing - again I don't really know - but my guess is that with a quality NLE you probably can. However you'll probably have to work with the horribily distoted SBS images in the NLE preview window. Perhaps some NLE's allow you to hook up to the VR headset for editing. Google is your friend.

You can, using the Oculus Rift and Premiere Pro/After Effects or Avid Media Composer. Although it's not a very cheap and feasible option for simple users.
Also, Final Cut Pro X (if you're on a Mac) offer VR video editing, among many other stuff. Although, I haven't used Final Cut in a long time. So I really don't know what new options they have introduced and how VR videos are rendered. And, again, Final Cut Pro X it's not free, either.
So, suffice to say that it's simply an expensive and painstakingly task, all in all.
Definitely not worth it for edit out a few minutes off of a video.
