Sweet spot settings for re-encoding 1080p/4k videos to 1080p?
Since a lot of videos released are 4k with AVC encoding and end up 4+ GB I like to re-encode a lot of my stuff down to 1080p HEVC. So far the settings I use to either shrink the filesize of large 1080p videos or scale 4k down to 1080p in Handbrake are:
Starting from the Fast 1080p30 setting I'll set Video Encoder: H.265 10-bit (x265) Framerate: Same as Source, Constant Framerate Quality: Constant Quality 24 Encoder Preset: Slow Encoder Profile: Main 10 Encoder Level: 5.1 Advanced Options: Code:
strong-intra-smoothing=0:rect=0:aq-mode=1:rd=4:psy-rd=0.75:psy-rdoq=4.0:rdoq-level=1:rskip=2 For anyone who posts a lot of videos, is there a better Handbrake sweet spot in settings for 1080p and 720p re-encodings, assuming I'm downloading the high quality 1080p/4k videos that are posted here? Is there much bang for your buck in quality+filesize versus time going down to Very Slow for Encoder Settings and/or doing Two-Pass? Slow vs Fast definitely seems worth the extra encode time for example. |

D'oh is there a way to post something as code so it doesn't get smileys added in? Makes my post above on advanced options worthless lol.
EDIT: nm, missed the "Go Advanced" button and saw the code tags in it. |
