Given the current variants and future mutation possibility, it doesn’t matter if you have had the virus or not. You still need the vaccine. The vaccines work against multiple strains, if you have already had one strain, you can still get another one that a vaccine would have prevented. From what I've seen the latest research indicates that the mRNA vaccines, at least, perform quite well against most of the mutated strains against which they've been tested.

Basically, anyone that has been previously infected by the virus, their immunity is LESS than what the vaccines provide. The vaccines work because they overload you with antibodies. Particularly the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines that target the spike protein of Covid, give you tons more mRNA against that one specific piece of the virus than you would ever get from a normal infection. That’s also why they are pretty effective against the variants. People who had Covid early in the pandemic are at a much greater risk of getting sick again with say the UK/Brazil variant than someone who never had Covid but has the vaccine.

Many people at my work who were Covid deniers were against getting vaccinated early on. By the end of April there's only two people (out of 90) who haven't been vaccinated yet. We got hit hard here few months ago(many think it was the UK variant) and it changed people's mind rather quickly.

What do they say, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I get a kick out of all the armchair doctors in this thread that with the help of google they throw around technical terms to give the impression that they are smart. A few here are in the know of course but most just go off of what they read or see on TV.

I on the other hand have to listen to specialists all day long as they give me 800 different takes on why the vaccine almost killed me 2 weeks ago, one day after getting it. These people are so intelligent that they make smart people feel like they are retarded, yet even they have different spins on wtf happened. Just sayin.

Everyone is still in a learning curve as new variants rear their ugly head and the fact is we don't know shit in the big picture and won't know until there is actually clinical evidence they they aren't in fact poisoning us as we are lab rats, guinea pigs, willing victims, and so on that will teach them as long term data slowly trickles in

Now get me a jello pudding and one of those bendy straws on your way out lol.

I know a lot of you think I'm an awful anti-vaxer but I do have that 100K piece of paper that says I'm a chemical engineer and a scientist. I'm actually getting a yellow fever and malaria vaccine next week because of upcoming world travel. I have a lethal allergy to raw eggs (most traditional vaccines are cultured in egg embryos) yet I'm risking an anaphylactic reaction to the vaccine because yellow fever and malaria are fatal diseases. Traditional vaccines have a proven track record. This global experiment with the mRNA treatment is hella scary. If you are under 60 think twice about getting it, severe side effects are a reality for protecting you against a something that is not that deadly to those under 60 who are healthy.

Pretty sure that's an argument from authority fallacy. Although I don't know what chemical engineering has to do any of this or how it qualifies you to give supposedly expert advice on something outside your field? Especially when that advice contradicts the actual experts.

Facebook groups and dubious YouTube videos are just as good as people who have studied and dedicated their lives to virology, epidemiology, etc. of course!

At the end of the day, people will make their own choice. I just hope it doesn't end up costing someone their life or a loved one when they could've done something to prevent it.

"Trust But Verify" when it comes to competent advice. If it hasn't happened already it's only a matter of time until kickbacks occur... we just had a doctor here that surrendered his license after defrauding the government and taking kickbacks from drug companies in general medications.

Pfizer is estimating a 26 billion dollar profit for 2021... by the time my lawyers are done with them you can drop that total by 100 million. I bet they settle for 10 million out of court.
