Why doesn't this forum have https protocol? It's the minimun privacy/security setting and it can be set up for free.

Any reason for this not to be implemented?

Good question, heya, one that I have asked too.

Apparently, the forum software is an older version that doesn't support the https protocol.

Hopefully the owner/s will update our forums, but I wouldn't be holding my breath...

Forcing SSL only causes connection problems with some non-standard/older browsers..... Plus it adds overhead we just dont need!!

Now adding SSL is possible here as seen on cellar.org (Also VBB (you can goto http or http:// and you stay in that session)) but ONLY ALLOWING HTTPS is not needed.........

Well, without trying to tip the scale in favor of either option, here's a simple comparison:

With SSL, the ISP or anybody else between your computer and the server can only see the IP address of the server you're connecting to.

Without SSL, they can see what pages you visit, the content of those pages as well as your username and password you use to log into forums. That is, if they want to spy on you for some reason. Also some hackers may run attacks and try to steal user accounts or trick users into downloading a virus, although these forums are not the type of websites they usually target.

I thought I answered this somewhere but just in case.

This version of vBulletin does not support SSL. The reason why vBulletin has not been upgraded yet is due to the fact that a large number of addons (hacks) that are used here that are essential for operation of Planet Suzy are not compatible with newer versions of vBulletin.

The plugins all have to be recoded to work with the newer versions because the original coders no longer support them.

I believe that this is being done but we have no timetable as far as completion.
