Oki, I think i have to write few words of explanation so lets start:

Quote used by me in sig has been written in 1931 by Hitler as congratulations to few of SS members who fightened and has been killed performing its service.
In 1931 SS ( Die Schutzstaffel - protective squad using English) was ONLY security unit created to protect key members of the NSDAP and in that time members of this unit were bodyguards and drivers and number of SS members in that time is only circa 3500.

I have used this motto because of its human sense not because of support of ideology especially Nazi ideology. I am from Poland, my family fought with Nazis during WWII (my grandma was a nurse during Warsaw Uprising, one of grandfathers was a member of Polish Army) so please do not write any so stupid insinuations about my support or connotations with this ideology because it is offensive and harmful to me as a Pole.

My signature has been changed and i would like to finish this discussion and find some other subject to talk.

yeah, you're ok by me too. in my now-deleted post, i mused that it was prolly meant in some ANTI-nazi sense...esp after reading "polish" in your profile.

UK royalty give the nazi salute, americans joke about kamikazes, cambodians mention pol pot playfully. it happens. i don't think any of these reveal some deep ideology aligned with the bad guys; just warped humour.

frankly, i think the other mod's follow-on was a bit worse. but, whatever. not gonna lose sleep here tryna be "woke"....

I was a little perplexed by LiCeK's signature as well, considering that part of my mother's family in Australia are all of Polish and Jewish - Polish background. And my uncle's wife is from South Korea.
So you can imagine how pissed off I was.

However, a little PM clarified most of my doubts. And I highly doubt LiCeK intentions were to either shock or glorify the Nazi cause.
That's like saying that one is a Satanist/Devil worshipper, only because he/she has a Baphomet/Pentagram either in his/her signature, in the shirts he/she likes to wear in public or he/she uses phrases by either Anton LaVey or Aleister Crowley, most of the times.
It's not always like that, most of the time.

Besides, how many artists, throughout the years, have shocked millions of people with their art?
Just to name a few popular ones: Madonna, Lady Gaga, Marilyn Manson, Eminem, and even Britney Spears.
They all have shocked people at some point, so much that they have become media scapegoats for a long time.
Yet we still make a big deal about a signature, specially at this point of our life, where the future isn't as bright as it seems? C'mon.

I am absolutely against censorship and people who try to mock our right of freedom of speech, sexuality and Religion.
Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinions. And to believe in whatever god/entity wants to believe, as well having sex with a partner of the same sex or experiment with his/her own sexuality, as long as it doesn't cause any harm to anyone and everyone is of legal age and consent.
As long as people respect the law and other people, who can I be to say or judge a person only by his/her sig, his religious beliefs or sexual orientation?
Live and let live. That has always been my motto.

Besides, PM functions exists for a reason.
So, if you're in doubt about something, just ask directly to that person. Or report it directly to an Admin if you find it of bad taste or offensive to a certain group of people.

u bring up a good point. when wiki says the phrase in question is illegal in germany and austria, what exactly does that mean? would the posts come up 404 to surfers there? would they display ok, but caveat surfer? would PS be liable to accusations off "pushing" illegal pages to surfers there? or do the countries rly not care, just so long as the posts don't originate internally?

Wait, I thought we weren't supposed to talk about LiCeK's signature anymore in this thread! Isn't that why one of our Admin's so zealously deleted a follow-up post questioning the legitimacy of the "valid historical context" for the quote outside of Nazism? Or is it now okay because some staff members have chimed in and had their posts thanked by a few other Admins?

And just to be clear - are we only allowing comments that support LiCeK's behavior and self-justifications at this point, or are we permitted to actually provide an alternative viewpoint?
