Just a quick reminder... the Adobe Flash end-of-life is today, 12 January 2021. So if you suddenly find certain things not working, this could be why.

(I've had the "System 47" - Star Trek TNG - screensaver on my laptop for a while, and it suddenly stopped working last night, displaying a large "F" - insert punchline here - on a white screen. It took some researching to discover why it wasn't working. Great screensaver, but is abandonware, for now.)

More information, including instructions on how to remove Flash, which is highly recommended by Adobe, can be found here.

(For section mod - might be worth sticking this, at least for a while? Suggest until 4/1/21.)

I regularly visit a few online gaming sites: they mainly link to small time-wasting games that can be great fun.

As of today, this is what I get when I try to play any of their games that are .swf:

Adobe built a logic bomb into an update some time ago so you can't even roll back to be able to play.
They also removed all previous updates too.

I know it's unlikely but I hope they open-source it so twenty-odd years worth of distractions are available again.

I have a related question to this, i dont have Adobe flash player, i used the tool to check, but i DO have adobe air, dont ask me when i got it, i think it was preinstalled when i got my computer, or i got it without actually knowing. So my question is do i need it to run anything, or is it better left untouched? Honestly i have no idea what it does, but if i need it for anything, ill keep it

Found this. It doesn't look like you need to worry about it just now, unlike the suggestions to remove standalone Flash, ostensibly for security reasons.

It's rich because Flash was always notorious for being a security vulnerability even when it was being maintained.

There are alternatives that exist, only I can't re-call them, glanced them a few times on travels.
