i have an overwhelming number of t0rr3nts which end at 99.9%, 99.8%, 99.7% etc. one or two could be random, but it's now like half of all t0rr3nts i attempt.

i recall reading about this some time back, and what the cause/solution was. but i'm drawing a blank.

when the t0rr3nt contains multiple files (like an .mkv plus screencaps plus a txt file or two), it is the meaty one which is lacking. as in, screencaps and txt files all wrap up properly, but the .mkv dies at 99.9%.

using qBit... these days.

sorry for posting a super outdated post. but its worth a try. disable tumbnails in folder settings win10 (i really hope you are not using xp

) or it could be router related as described in the thread. you could also try to recheck/rehash all your files in qbit

no need to apologize, it was an excellent answer!

i figured it was something like the first one, but, fact is, if there were a thumbs file or something else hanging, i would see it and lop it off. that was the point of me noting that the screencaps and txt files were not the source of the problem.

likewise, i have checked, rechecked, reloaded trackers, even reinstalled qBit ad nauseum. no help getting anything to wrap up.

i am on win10.0, but i was having the same problem on these items in my waning days of 8.1. i did also have the problem on XP for a few months like 10 years back, but SOMEHOW FIXED IT. i cannot recall how!!

the second item in your link -- fragmenting packets mucking up rechecks -- is still a possibility, i suppose. don't quite understand it (NAT routers? DMZ mode?) but will try to work thru it.

i DO note a (possibly related) issue of packet overlaps showing up in win10 explorer. that is, when u try to DL ep 2 ALONE of a list with ep1 ep2 ep3...u end up with something like "ep1 0.2%, ep2 100%, ep3 1.3%" in the resultant folder. this was standard in Tsunami and/or Tornado, but i don't recall it happening in qBit or uBit before.

so it leaves me wondering whether the problem is -- somehow -- that the checker now views that 100% ep2 as a 99.x% fraction of the 101.5% total?

my gut says this is the issue, but i get fuzzy on the details, or on what to DO about it....

When you queue up the torrent, try checking the box that says download first and last parts first. Then, even if it stops at 99% you can still watch it in VLC player.

Also check the box the main window at the top, right click on the tabs and choose "Last Seen Complete" and make sure you're finding complete sources for the files.

I might also uninstall/reinstall qBitorrent with GeekUninstaller. Make sure you're not running any antivirus that can interfere with torrents. I have Malwarebytes installed and I have to uncheck "Web Protection" because it will block torrent IP addresses as malicious. Also check and make sure that qBitorrent isn't blocked in Windows Firewall and that you have the BT port open in your router.

If that fails, try using uTorrent.

i can watch most of them fine at 99%. MKV, MPG, w/e. the only real problem is when one is ZIPPED. then even 99.99% is insufficient.

even for the majority which i can watch ok, it still BUGS me that i can't wrap them up! some of these have been hanging 6 months now.

i used to use uTor, but there was one critical bug which drove me away (first to Tornado or Tsunami, later to qBit) -- when 2 torrents have coincidentally matching names, all hell breaks loose! case in point, i had 2 diff megatorrents both named "marie luv", one with like 100 files in it, and one with like 250. uTor made a total mess of them -- not only merging all of the files into one giant "350 files" folder, but getting confused when the first of the two wrapped up -- moved folder to "finished" as expected, iirc, but ended up causing all the partials for the SECOND t0rr3nt to disappear in the process!

something like that, i forget. qBit has been quite good on these points ever since -- actually had *3* "marie luvs" DLing simultaneously for a while; no problem whatsoever.

so, no, i rly don't wanna go back to uTor.

will ponder your other suggestions.

dont know shit about torrents but discovered a trick d/ling normal files, if it has a .FILE file that you can copy then paste it onto your desktop change .FILE ext to say .rar and click yes and itll be a usable rar that happens to cut off @ point its missing...not sure it works so well w. videos or if this is even applicable to torrents
